Yesterday I managed a quick stop at the ‘Prairie Queen Quilt Shop’ in San Jose, CA.
I had never been to the ‘Prairie Queen QS’ before. I had done my homework earlier…I researched the quilt shops online before starting our trek to the San Francisco area. This one sold Primitive Quilts Magazine and Wool…so thought that it would be a good fit!
I liked the BIG blue sign…spotted this one right away!!
I LOVED the HUGE spool quilt in the window!!
I asked if I could take pictures of the shop… Nope! This shop has secrets! So I talked her into an entrance shot featuring the floor…
So this is it folks…the Prairie Queen Quilt Shop…it was nice. The Queen didn’t get friendly until I bought something and I didn’t spend as much time as I would have poking around. Oh…AND I forgot to ask about the Spool Quilt in the Window! Darn!
However…San Francisco was spectacular…slightly foggy but that just added to her charm!! She let us take as many pictures as we wanted…and she was VERY friendly!
The Golden Gate…
Alcatraz Island…
And a picture of a famous SF Trolley Car…
The ride down on the #1 Highway was wonderful…incredible views!
We had an amazing day! Hope you enjoyed seeing a wee snippet of it!
Have a SUNNY Sunday and Happy Quilting!~P
I sure love to virtually shop with you on your treks. The Spools Quilt in the window is a Thimble Blossom pattern that it seemed like everyone was making last year. So cheerful and what a great way to use your favourites up. Safe travels north.
ReplyDeleteWow...I was in San Francisco yesterday also....did you guys tow your 5th wheel through the city....if yes I'm impressed...it is a beautiful city...
ReplyDeleteYou guys sure know how to travel! You don't miss a thing. So happy you're having a good time.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a super fun day in San Francisco. Great photo of the bridge, with just a wee bit of mist. Love it!

Sorry to hear that you couldn't take pictures at the shop and that I missed you in Monterey.
ReplyDeleteI went t see my cow quilt on display with Mary Lou's Cow Parade at Back Porch Fabrics, and before they knew that i had made one they said yes to pictures. Very friendly ladies.
No wool as the owner is allergic. I met her and she was very helpful, in fact she got two quilt tops out of the back to show a new quilter some inspiration.
Oh, SFO! Love that city. I lived just 10 min. north of there in Marin (neighbor of George Lucas--Starwars) for a couple years in the 1980s when my husband was in the Navy. It was a great city to visit. Monterey, Carmel, Stanford University, wine country to the north too! The spool quilt is a Thimbleblossom pattern. You can get it as a pdf download and start it today! LOL! Here's the link. http://thimbleblossoms.bigcartel.com/product/spools-pattern-154-paper-pattern
ReplyDeleteSo silly not to let you take photos! I often contact shops about items I see on blog photos and, if they are available, I sometimes buy them. Oh well...
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing!
Cheery wave from Bev
Had me scared for a minute. I read Rick's blog first and said "what no quilt shops today"? Then you saved the day. Yaa Paulette! Great trip and great pics.
ReplyDeleteNo pictures! So sad, I've purchased patterns and kits because I saw pictures on a blog. Oh well.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your journey north.
Not the best shop but still fun to explore and find new things and you got to enjoy a beautiful area full of history, so the perfect day.

Ahhh, you brought back some fond memories of the Bay Area for me. But...not sad that we left. :)
ReplyDeleteIt pays to be friendly to quilters, we pass it on, and that's how everyone finds out which shops they want to patronize and spend their money with..not a good sentence, but you know what I mean..
ReplyDeleteHere is a link to the spool quilt pattern. Love all your travel photos. Would love to see San Fransisco! http://thimbleblossoms.bigcartel.com/product/spools-pattern-154-paper-pattern
ReplyDeleteI loved San Francisco too. Great city. Didn't get to any shops there but plenty others elsewhere!
ReplyDeleteI just made that spool quilt with friends...a gift for a friends 60th birthday. The blocks are amazingly easy, and the pattern is available as a pdf download. Quick and easy!
my home town! (sort of, I grew up across the bay in Oakland.)
ReplyDeleteLove HWY1, did you get car sick?!
