This and That...

After much discussion, hubby and I have decided to cancel our Snowbirding Adventure for this year.  With the surge in guns and mass shooting down in the States, (the latest being a 40 minute drive from our RV Park) we just don't want to go somewhere that is not safe.

I am going to miss the Clubhouse Quilters, the Road to CA and all of those wonderful quilting shops but peace of mind and feeling safe is number one to me.  I hope that I haven't offended anyone but the idea of these trips is to get away from it all and relax...and have fun.  Enough said...

On the quilting front...I have been stitching binding...lots and lots and lots of binding...
And how about a Rylie update....

Rylie has had her drains removed, stitches out and  is back to being her old self!  It is so nice to have our sweet girl back to being her old rambunctious playful self!

As for the Pit Bull who attacked her, the SPCA has declared him a dangerous offender.  This means that the owner is to leashed and muzzle the PB at all times.  If the owner fails to do this, then the PB will be taken away.  I really don't want to know what the next step would be...!

FYI...Rylie is a cockapoo...but looks more like a very small cocker spaniel.  (One of my readers was wondering...)

Have a Fun Friday and Happy Stitching!~P

  1. I'm so sorry that you feel the need to go home. It just hasn't been a very hospitable visit for you at all...but please remember, you do have lots of real friends and cyber friends who welcome you with open arms and open hearts.
I'm so glad that Rylee is back to her old self. She's precious...and so lucky to be allowed to perch her cute little self on such a pretty quilt!

  2. I, too, am sorry that you feel the need to give up your trip. I'm even sorrier that it appears that the terrorists are winning, as they are doing exactly what they hope to do--disrupt peoples' lives and cause them to live in fear. So glad to see that Rylee is doing well.

  3. Good move, in my books. Feeling safe when you step out your front door is key. Life is short so why take the chance? You can always skype the clubhouse friends.

  5. Hi, I am Kay, the gal that met you last year at Primitive Gatherings. I live in Highland which is very near Painted Lady which I know you love.

This week's shootings were horrific, just about 5 miles from my house. Never in a million years would I have thought this might happen so close to my home.

I'm really sorry you won't be down South this year, but understand. I know you gave the decision a lot of thought. Do you want me to look for something for you at Road??

  6. I am so sorry to hear that you will not be making your annual pilgrimage to southern California. I understand completely. Nowadays, you begin to think twice about going out, even to the movies. I don't want to live in fear but...
Rylee looks fabulous! Glad to hear that she is back to her ""old self"!
If you need anything at Road, please let me know as I will be attending the show.

  7. Oh no! You absolutely have to do what feels right to you, but I do think it is a shame. I'm not sure that the domestic gun problem in the States is that much worse than before, it is just finally getting more press. But again, if you have a feeling that you shouldn't go, then that is the right call.

Rylie looks very well indeed, so that is some good news! It will be a change for you to spend Christmas on the island. I'm sure your family will be happy about it, at least!

  8. It is a shame that you won't be going, always enjoy seeing your adventures with the group and the shops. Rylie is looking good, he is such a sweet pup, I hope this doesn't keep him from enjoying walks in other parks.

  11. Sad for you that you can't spend your winter down South but I think that is a wise decision. We hope to travel into the States next Fall but will also way the pros and cons before we do so. Sad for me that I don't get to live vicariously through your quilty adventures but I guess I will survive! Hugs to little Rylie also.

  12. I think you are wise to cancel your trip this year. I've always been nervous with the prevalence of gun violence in the States, and the recent shootings have caused me to cancel any shopping trips I was considering. Glad your sweetie is on the road to recovery!

  13. Sorry to see that you won't be making your trip south this year. It was always enjoyable taking a look at all the wonderful quilt shops in CA. However, with so much violence in the US right now, I respect your decision. We all want to feel safe on a holiday. Glad to see that sweet Rylie is on the mend.

  14. It was TERRORISM. Not work place violence. Not domestic gun violence. We can not let them win.

I am sure those who are in Paris, London and Brussels all have the same reaction as those of us here, in the United States of America.

IT CAN HAPPEN ANY WHERE. At a Paris cafe or newspaper office, a quite neighborhood, the World Trade Center in NY or a office building in San Bernardino.

  15. So glad that Rylie is doing well. Thanks so much for the update. As for your travel plans it makes me sad that we have to worry about our safety as we go about our daily lives. May we all be safe from harm.

  16. good news on Riley`s recovery can see the love in his eyes whilst he poses for his photo. Such a sham we cannot travel without worry, I pray for all those who have so tragically been affected by the terrible things going on all over the world at the moment.I enjoy the final hand sewing the binding bit to finish a
    quilt

  17. I am happy to hear Riley is doing well. We talked about the gun violence going on here and around the world. I am not going to hold up in my house living in fear. Life is short but, it is also meant to be lived. We all have to do what is best and comfortable for us. I just hope they don't cancel RTC because you won't be there. LOL!

  18. I am sorry to hear you are not snowbirding this year. Although I live in North Idaho I am originally from San Bernardino and most of my family still live there. We are in Arizona for the winter and glad to be here. It's a shame that the terriorism in our country is causing people to be so fearful as to travel. I agree with several of the others that posted that is the terriorists agenda. I think the violence is everywhere now and can happen anywhere, even walking out your front door. I refuse to live my life out of fear. I respect your decision to stay home, you need to do what is right for you, but sad that you aren't doing what you so enjoy.

  19. I'm also so sorry to hear that such a horrific act of violence can put such fear in others. It's completely understandable that you want to stay close to home. Hubby & I were to fly across the country to visit our daughter, one week after 9-11. We decided that nothing would keep us from holding our 5 month old granddaughter. Last time we held her was right after she was born. The airport was practically empty, so was the plane...I have to admit I prayed that if anything were to happen....please let it happen on the way home, AFTER we held our little GD. It's sad. : ( On a happier note- Glad that Riley is on the mend. I will miss your Trip Blog Posts, but it's important to do what you feel is right. Blessings!
