GO! Tutorial Part 2 and GO! Give Away!!

Wow!!  Yesterday was a very busy day…what with being the first day of the GO! Give Away!!  SEW EXCITING!! I would have liked to have answered all the comments but sheesh…there were just too many of them!

Plus I  needed to finish off those 24 blocks for part two of our GO! tutorial.  Lady GO! GO! made it extremely easy and fast to cut out the strips to make the blocks… but sewing them together took forever!

But I got ’em done…all 24 of them!

Then I squared them off…10 inches was the magical number.  Thanks to Lady GO! GO they were pretty much dead on…:o)P1090691

For the centre block I wanted to do a wool appliqué…I needed to tone down my white wool so I did a quick tea dye…rinsed it and threw it in the dryer…

P1090688

While the wool was drying I traced the snowman from a pattern that I bought from Primitive Gatherings…called Cabin Friends onto Heat and Bond light.

P1090689

I then ironed it onto the back of the wool and cut out all the shapes…and like puzzle pieces they all fit together….

Presto…snowman! He looks a little wonky now but I will square him up later…

So today at Heritage Quilting I will be hand stitching Ol’Frosty onto the black flannel square.  Then I will trim the block down to 9 inches and add a little border before I stitch all the blocks together…

IF ALL GOES WELL..I’m hoping to finish off this quilt today…fingers crossed!

I hope you got to enter the GO! Give Away yesterday!!  If not, then scroll down to yesterday’s post and see what you need to do…don’t worry…it’s nice and easy…just like the GO! Fabric Cutter!  PLEASE DO NOT ENTER THE GIVE AWAY HERE!! You must enter on yesterday’s post…I have to keep track of you! :o) And remember you have till Aug. 31 so there’s lots of time…AND…Good luck!! :o)

Have a magical Monday and Happy Quilting!!

  2. This just keeps getting better and better, as I said before love the idea of using the scraps. I also love that your scraps are all plaids and now to add the snowman (another of my favorite things).
    Glad I found your blog!

I have a pattern with whonky blocks and applique pine trees on the outside, would make a nice quilt for my trailer. Lots of cutting though, so waiting on that one.
