Buds in a Basket…

Remember these blocks…well the project is called ‘Buds In the Basket’…so I have to starting thinking about those pesky little buds!

P1190507

The ‘buds’ are simply little circles…32 blocks, six buds per baskets…we’re talking a lot of buds!  Almost 200 of them!  YIKES!  And look at how small they are…

 P1190510

This sounds like a job for my trusted Sizzix!  You can read about this little gem HERE!P1190511

Yes, I have the circle die!!

P1190512

And the circles are roughly the right size!

P1190513

Lay out the fabric…

P1190514

And presto…in seconds…

P1190515

I have stacks of wee circles…

P1190516

I found a tray and got myself organized….

Now I stitch around the circle…can you see my running stitches…and put the coin in the middle and I pull the tail of the thread tight…

And presto…circles ready for appliqué!  A spritz of spray starch, a touch of a hot iron and then pop out the coin, another tap of the iron and they are ready to be stitched down!

Meet my new traveling ‘budd’ies….

IMG_4758  My new ‘budd’ies and I will be joined at the hip…here a stitch, there a stitch…and hopefully before I know it, my ‘budd’ies will blossom into something beautiful…something Basket worthy! (:o)

Have a FUN Friday and Happy Quilting!~P

  14. Aren't you clever? I don't use my Sizzix much any more, except for the circle die!

  15. The machine works great, but you need to invest in the perfect circles. They work great! The best investment i've made and I just finished this quilt.

  16. I use the Perfect Circles too. But your Sizzix sure makes cutting the circles quick. I have the Circle Cutter from Olfa that might work too. I can't start another project but I'll keep thinking happy thoughts for your quick finish.

  17. This is a great take along project because once you get your circles done, appliqueing them will go quickly. Look at this post for a tip on these. I picked up this info from a member of my applique group.
