Skating Around the Problem...

We all encounter wee problems, hiccups, complications, and challenges  here and there in certain projects...Call it what you will, Greer had just such a glitch!

I was going to show you BEFORE and AFTER pictures in this post...illustrating  Greer's problem and how she fixed it... BUT I can't find the BEFORE picture showing you Greer's 'booboo'!

SEW picture this....

Here's Greer's dilemma...she is pressing these wool pieces to her background flannel...and she scorches the wool!  YIKES! You could actually SEE the IRON imprint right on that white wool!  (If you have ever worked with wool, then you know how easy it is to do this!)  Greer didn't have enough white wool to redo the skate...so Greer turned the problem into the solution!

The water hole marks from the iron became sweet little gold stars and the outline to the iron became gold trim...BRILLIANT!  Check out Greer's stitching...

Can you guess that there was an iron imprint on this skate?  Nope, not unless someone says something...and you're not going to hear it from ME!!  Love this sweet mat...It's a Bonnie Sullivan Design and it's called 'Skating Around'.  Well I think Greer did a great job 'skating around' the problem!   Thanks for sharing, Greer!  Mum's the word!

Have a Magical Monday and Happy Stitching!~P

  2. Marvelous solution. I think it adds to the charm of the piece. And, yes I have done my share of wool scorching!

  3. Great job. I use a teflon pressing sheet when using fabric other than cotton.

  9. Greer did skate around that oops for a perfect score of 10. It really is a reminder about every day challenges...making lemonade from lemons...making lovely skating shoes from scorched white wool.
