Update..of this and that!

First off, I need to thank YOU for all the emails, comments and well wishes left for our dog, Rylie and hubby after the vicious Pit Bull attack last Friday!  It truly warms this old heart!

As promised here is an update..Hubby's hand is now fine (no infection) and Rylie is gaining strength and becoming more active everyday. :o))  She even had a short walk-about in our backyard!  After her vet check-up yesterday, she was put on a heavy doses of antibiotics as some of the bite marks were infected...common with dog bites!  But she is on the mend and for this, we are thankful!
Hubby filed reports with the RCMP (the office closes on the weekend...yes, we live out in the country), and also with the SPCA and with the Cowichan Valley Regional District.  Now we just wait and see.  Our daughters got busy and posted an alert for the the Cowichan Valley residents regarding this Pit Bull and the Boston Terrier (and it's owner) on Facebook and had over 400 Shares!  This social media outlet 'thing' is something else!  Awareness and educating the public is key to finding this vicious dog and his owner... and it's a good reminder for the public to take extra precaution with their own dogs and children.  Time will tell...

Here's our little girl in her body suit...this is to help prevent Rylie from chewing her stitches.  Her drains are now out...thank goodness, as it looked like straws stitching out of her neck!  Just a little unsettling, to say the least...

She spends most of her time under the covers sleeping...which is just what the doctor ordered!

On the quilting front...I am continuing to work on stitching down those stars on my Wee House Quilt during my Heritage Guild mornings...I have only THREE more stars left to stitch!  Yes, sewing goes quickly when you talk and sew, talk and sew!! Ok...maybe there's been more talking than sewing...but it's all good!  haha

I can't wait to finish the stars and get this one quilted as I want to do some big stitch hand quilting in the border!

And in my Sewing Room...there are Top Secret Projects going down!  Yup...I'm starting to get ready for a visit from the jolly fat man in the red suit!  Will share all those secrets with you when the time is just right...:o)

Have a terrific Tuesday and happy stitching!!

  2. I'm glad Rylie will be ok, as will your husband. But so sorry that this happened as I'm sure it will cause nightmare for all for years to come. I am proud of you to report this to various agencies, as well as to let others in the area know. I hope the owners of the Pit Bull are caught and action is taken to ensure this dog does not attack other dogs, nor children in the future.

  7. So glad to hear that your pup is on the mend Paulette (and Hubby too) - that sounded absolutely terrifying, and I don't own a pet! Love your house quilt - it's a nice take on the original design. Have fun with your Secret Santa Sewing....

  8. Lovely to see sweet Rylie is on the mend. And hubby as well. Hope you get some satisfaction from the people that own the dog. Hate to say it, but a dog this vicious should probably be put down before he does more damage to other helpless animals.
The Wee Houses quilt is looking gorgeous and the big stitch quilting will be just the right touch. Hope to see it soon.

  9. So happy to hear that your sweet Rylie is on the mend and that your husband is doing well. I can only imagine how terrifying this was for you both.
I am constantly amazed with people and their lack of accountability. That in itself is horrifying!
Take care ...your houses are lovely!

  10. Catching up with your blog today I feel sick to my stomach reading about what happened to Rylie. Poor little soul. Kudos to your husband for fighting off her assailants... he's a hero. I do hope the authorites trace the morons who own those dogs. I know what I'd like to do to them.... but I don't think it's legal and I really wouldn't enjoy prison food!
Hope Rylie's recovery is swift and her confidence hasn't taken too much of a knock.......xxx

  11. Glad to hear that Rylie is recovering. What a terrible story!! I can't believe the owners of the attack dogs didn't say anything by way of apology. I do hope the police and SPCA are able to track down the owners!

As for you...you baaaad influence! I fell off the wagon and ordered "that" pattern a couple of days ago, and I'm blaming it on you and your taunting!

  21. I didn't get a chance to read your last post, I am so sorry you and your husband had to go through that. I see that so much with owners who let their dogs roam free or even come near Bean and all Bean wants is to say hi and be buddies and then next thing I know their dog is snapping at Bean. I had dogs that were nervous biters so I kept them on a tight leash and away from others. I am glad to see they are healing and ok. Your quilt is coming along beautifully. I will do some quilting once I get done with the holidays, in the mood for some new quilts and I got an idea for a theme in the guest room.

  23. One just wants to pick Rylie up give her loads of cuddles but I know she is loved very much and is not missing one second of said love and attention but my heart still aches for her. So glad all is well for hubby but it could so easily have gone the other way, thank goodness it didn't. Social media definitely can be used for good and this is a prime example, good luck on catching the culprits. Hugs to all.

  25. Oh Paulette! What a horrible experience! I do hope they catch these people. They had to know your husband and dog were both injured and then to drive away. How horrible! Gentle pats of love to your Rylie and pats of courage to your husband.

  26. Thank you so much for your update on Rylie and your husband. Also on those 'people' and their dogs. It truly is just shocking that someone who behave that way! What is wrong with people anymore?
Your Wee House quilt is really looking great - I can't wait to see your Big Stitch quilting!
