Do you remember this fellow? Old Saint Nick was the first block that my friend, Claire stitched in the Heart to Hand Christmas Quilt! Claire always starts with the hardest block first!! He turned out magnificent!
If you want to see more Santa pics then go HERE…
Claire was auditioning the background fabric…she wasn’t convinced that the black Japanese textures would be suitable for this project…Claire was leaning towards a wool background until she saw the pictures of the quilt from the Heart to Hand booth on display at the 2010 Road to California Quilt Show. You can see those pictures HERE.
After doing St. Nick she convinced herself to try something new…and she has gone with the Japanese fabrics…here are her next four blocks…all ready to be stitched…
I love the background fabrics…they add further dimension to the blocks, don’t you think?
LOVE this one…on the black dots…
Claire said that the colours are very muted in the pictures…she assured me the tree really is green!
Well after seeing these blocks I am SEW inspired to start cutting out my own blocks!! This quilt is going to be stunning!! Claire is also very clever to cut out and ready four blocks at once as these will be fast and easy to do. Nothing is worse then having to stop to prepare a new block…
Sew happy stitching, Claire!! We look forward to seeing these blocks all stitched up!!
Have a terrific Tuesday and Happy Quilting!~P
This will definitely be a stunning quilt when finished. And, I'm sure, yours will be too. It's nice to be working on something for Christmas now so that when the season arrives, you have a finished quilt to decorate your home. Looking forward to your friend Claire's progress.
ReplyDeleteWonderful mix of fabric and wools, great fabrics and wool choices.

She's doing great. You're being a great cheerleader!
ReplyDeleteI think the Japanese fabrics work well. A lot like prim style with using plaid backgrounds.
ReplyDeleteThose blocks are very nice. I think it is going to be a wonderful quilt.
ReplyDeleteShe is doing a GREAT job with these!
