But I NEED IT!

Only ONE more month to go until we Snowbird South for the Winter…well actually we will be going for the Fall and Winter…Yup we are going for FIVE months this year.…For those of you who are new to my blog, my husband and I load up our 5th Wheel and trade our rainy West Coast Winter in for some warm rays of sunshine!!  We usually find it at ‘The Sands RV Resort’ in Desert Hot Springs in Southern California!

I haven’t been able to show you anything quilty for few days now…it’s not that I’m not busy…it’s just that I have to get things done…like getting my quilting gear organized.

What to pack??  You know how hard it is to pack for a weekend retreat…well try packing for FIVE months!  Then have your hubby says that you need to cut back this year…WHAT?  CUT BACK?? …ON WHAT?

I have to take rulers…I NEED my rulers!!

P1150640

I NEED my DMC embroidery floss…

P1150645

Because I NEED to take some stitchery work….P1150657-1 And what about my perle cotton…I NEED my PC for my wool work!!

P1150647Because I finished cutting out all the wool pieces for the Heart to Hand Autumn Quilt…

P1150643

(Each block is in its own ziplock ready for stitching)…GOT to take this!!

P1150644

And I go NOWHERE without my ‘ideas’ and future projects bag…

P1150641

And I NEED to take my projects that I have already started…:o) There’s only a few…

P1150652And of course I NEED to take my GO! dies….

P1150653

Oh and I need to take a tub of wool…I NEED my wool!!

 P1150655

What do you mean I still need to CUT BACK?  OK, OK …I will leave my Scandinavian Christmas Project behind….

P1150656

…or maybe I will just keep it on my lap while we travel…yeah..that’s what I’ll do!

SEE..it’s not as easy as it looks…is it?  Sheesh….

Have a Fun Friday and Happy Quilting!~P

  1. Paulette, you gave me a laugh this morning. I can't imagine having to so all that packing, but you certainly cannot leave for 5 months and not have projects!! I mean would your hubby rather that you BUY it all new when you get to California???? See you are saving him money :-)

  2. i agree with Happy Cottage - you wouldn't want to have to buy all new stuff when you get there. Well, you might WANT to..... MY other suggestion would be - do you NEED hubby??? LOL!

  3. That's too funny. Now what does hubby do while you stitch? Are all his toys packed. If you happen to forget something my motto is go shopping for it. If I could I would take no luggage and buy all new.

  4. I needed a good belly laugh this morning! I completely understand that you NEED each and every thing you've described and shown. My goodness what are you expected to do while you sit around the RV park all fall and winter - wait you could go SHOPPING for new stuff. LOL

  6. It's so nice to see all those plastic bins with projects inside. My hubby has been known to ask why I need another bin - don't I have enough already? I am recycling though. Finish one project and fill it up with a new one...

  7. Did you forget something? What about Jan? I got an idea for you...You can always ship a box to the RV park. Hmmmmmnnn.

  8. That is an overwhelming amount of stuff to fit into your 5th wheel. But I can certainly see that you need everything. Hope all goes well when you cross the border.

  9. I would cut all I wanted with the GO before you go and leave GO behind. Or ship it there before you go.

  10. Too funny! I am hugely impressed with your organisation-I sure wish I had my stuff soooo 'together'!!!
You sure have been busy and lucky you!!!!

  11. We're gonna need pictures of the packing in the 5th wheel (BTW - you still need a name the 5th wheel contest) if Mr. Sweet P hasn't broken the camera after throwing it at you!

  13. Paulette...you are cracking me up! If I showed up at the RV with all that stuff my husband would have a canary! Seriously!!!

  14. I feel your pain Paulette, Mike is exactly the same way but I still manage to sneak a few things in! Hint, under the mattress (not under the lift up storage compartment) is a great place to store cutting mats, rulers and folded flat pieces of fabric!

  15. Time to hook a trailer on the back of that RV. It does look organized and ready to go.

  16. So glad I'm not the only one who loads more than DH thinks will fit in the space to go an a road trip. I always like to have a project bag or two or three by my feet when I ride. Who knows what I will have the urge to work on...

  17. That's too funny! Of course you need to have all those projects. If you get bored there are lots of shops in CA to find more stuff.

  18. Paulette, my girl, simply mail yourself a box or two of these goodies so that it arrives in DHS at about the same time you arrive.
    Same with the return trip.
Thus, you pack less for the trip and it all goes smoothly.

    hugs and spf45,
    Gerry

  23. I totally agree that you need all of that stuff - tell him to leave something else out, not quilty stuff! I must ask - how do you have that floss organized? Is it all on those little card things? blessings, marlene

  24. Oh My! That is a lot of stuff, I sure hope you have lots of storage space to put it all. I have a travel trailer, and when I start going, I will fit whatever I can under the bed, after that too bad.

  25. We go to FL for the winter. DH has already said, "We're going light this year. We don't need much." Yes, Sure. I wont't NEED anything. Just wait to see what all I can fit in the van. He never looks in the stow-and-go seat storage. Oh, I can hide, er, ah, put a lot there. And I can tuck a ton in my machine bag. The dogs have extra room in their bag. Hmmm...

  26. have fun packing!...just replace a few of Rick's tools for your quilting supplies..he will never notice!!

    ReplyDelete
  27. Well I can see the problem, but I have a solution. How about leaving stuff behind, then you'll just have to keep going to the quilt shops. Then, next year, he'll let you take everything you want cos it'll be cheaper.

  28. Oh Paulette, exciting days ahead we are heading to Florida this winter for the first time. I haven't gotten further than taking one bin of stuff, and plan to visit those American fabric shops I've read about.
Sewing machine for this girl, and I will take knitting...something to keep the hands busy.

    ReplyDelete
  29. WHAT?!? Leave stuff behind for 5 months? Why that's almost like asking you to cut off your own arm! Thanks for the laugh this morning, and I hope you can find sneaky ways to smuggle more stuff in ;-)

  30. Wow, I can't imagine trying to pack up my projects, best of luck.

  31. Oh my goodness! I suspect there will be no room to bring anything back! You are so organized and well packed...is there room for food? Who caresÉ You have your fabric! Heehee! Enjoy!

  32. Paulette, that really is so funny - but true - what a girl!!! Just so typical of any mad keen stitcher. Of course you have take it all.
