Clubhouse Happenings…

The Clubhouse was packed yesterday…the AC was on full blast as it was a sunny hot day out.  Now that may seem weird to you…everyone rushing inside on a sunny day but when it reaches a certain temperature it’s just too darn hot to do anything…so why not stitch inside where it’s cool and comfy?! Now don’t get me wrong, I am NOT complaining about our FANTASTIC weather…especially when friends are sending pictures like this of HOME…yes over 18” of the white stuff!!  YIKES!!

DSCF3505

Yes, I am enjoying our sunny, hot weather…oh yes I am!!  And I am enjoying it more and more as I look at this picture!!

So what went on in that cool and comfy Clubhouse yesterday??  Well…

Gina prepped her hand applique piece…LOVE IT!!

IMG_0144

And even manage to start hand stitching…

IMG_0147

Heritage Judy practiced her Free Motion Quilting on this charity baby quilt…and it was VERY impressive!!  Judy has a Handi Quilter in her park model…if you can image THAT!!

Can you see the FMQ “Sweet…”…

IMG_0176 - Copy

…and  “dreams” spelled out in FMQ?  Very cute!!  Some lucky baby will be the recipient of this cozy quilt!!

IMG_0177

And Gwen has finished the main part to her charity quilt…she is now working on putting borders on…LOVE this quilt!!

Susanne is back and brought some show and tell…

Loved this scrappy Christmas Quilt and matching pillow!!

IMG_0180 - Copy

Here’s a close up…she didn’t remember the name of the pattern so I can’t help anyone with that…sorry!!

IMG_0181 - Copy

Lovely…and beautifully quilted!!

Susanne also brought along this sweet little cardinal mat…taking paper piecing to a whole other level!!  WOW!!

IMG_0196

It’s a Paper Panache pattern….

IMG_0197

Christine finished her Paris Quilt which will be mailed to….PARIS!!  It is going to her 10 year old God-daughter who lives in Paris!!  She is going to FLIP when she unwraps this beauty!!

When Camille looks out her bedroom window she can see the Eiffel  Tower!

IMG_0184 - Copy

I love the scrappiness of this quilt…scraps mixed with the sophistication of the Eiffel Tower!!  Very sweet!!

IMG_0185

And of course the border ties them all together!!  Very nice!

IMG_0186

This is the quilt that Linda is working on…It is very unusual…Do you see that pink inner border?  It’s not fabric but fabric PETALS!

IMG_0187

Linda was busy sewing on her petals yesterday…

IMG_0188IMG_0189

Yes, they sell petals for this purpose…online!!

IMG_0190

And you can find the quilt in this book….  I will be showing pictures of the finished quilt for sure!!  Stay tuned!

IMG_0191

How’s this for a picture…we are, what we sew!! haha  Norma is getting right into this quilt!!  Man…I LOVED the colours in this quilt!

IMG_0193

This periwinkle blue is beautiful and very effective in this quilt!!  The colours just pop this quilt…and the big blocks showcase the fabrics to perfection!!  This is going to be a gift to her daughter-in-law!!  I KNOW she is going to score tons of brownie points with this one!!

IMG_0194

So there you have it!  Another Monday in the Clubhouse…

This year we are fortunate to get the Clubhouse TWO days for Quilting!!  SEW..we get to do this all over again tomorrow!!  And then on Thursday is the annual SPRING FLING…where we motor off to EIGHT QUILT shops from Corona, CA to Palm Desert…all along the I-10 Freeway!  Bring it on!!

Last week I had my purse stolen…(a long story…:o(( to say the least!!) so I have my fingers crossed that my new debit and credit cards come in before the shop hop!  Also I REALLY miss my driver’s license!!  A temporary one will arrive in about another week…if all goes well!!  In the meantime my wings have been clipped…

Have a terrific Tuesday and happy stitching!!~P

Another Canadian SCORES!

The Canadian Men’s Hockey Team weren’t the only ones winning GOLD…on Saturday, Joanne stopped at the local flea market for ORANGES and came home with this Gold winning beauty~

IMG_0163

Here’s Joanne telling us about her quilt and where she is going to put it…

IMG_0164

Deb was kind enough to help hold it up but Joanne kept a close eye on her…yes, there are quilt thieves among us!!

IMG_0165

This quilt is old…all hand pieced and hand quilted…and hardly worn at all!  There are a couple of small stains but mainly on the back!  The white fabric is that gauzy flour sack fabric that they used way back when…

IMG_0166

Here and there are little pieces of a brighter yellow fabric..we thought that maybe the quilter used up all of the pale yellow fabric and ‘made do’ with the bright yellow.  We wished that there was a label on the back…telling us a little of the history behind this quilt! IMG_0167

Another reminder of how important it is to add a label to all of your quilts…who knows where they will end up fifty years from now…

IMG_0168

One things for sure, this quilter knew how to quilt…fine itty bitty stitches…and beautifully pieced!

IMG_0169

Yup…that Joanne is one lucky lady!  Oh and did I mention how much she paid for it…are you sitting down??  A measly $15!!  “She shoots…she SCORES!!”  And the crowd roars…

Seeing that I was over at Joanne’s with my camera in hand… I just had to take a picture of the quilt that Joanne is finishing off…it’s a beauty too…hard to beat a quilt made out of Kansas Troubles fabric!!  I’m POSITIVE there will be a label going on the back of this stunner…right Joanne?

IMG_0172

And look at Joanne’s ‘sewing room’!!  Joanne and her hubby have a HUGE 5th wheel…with a toy hauler room!  They transport her hubby’s motorcycle in it when travelling and when they stay put, it becomes Joanne’s SEWING ROOM!!  Sounds fair to me…!!

IMG_0171

Thanks for sharing, Joanne!!  I always love to see how other quilters ‘make do’ when travelling!!  Yes, you are one lucky lady!

So another gorgeous hot day here on the desert…and back home…not so much!  This picture was sent by Claire…taken looking out her window…brrrrr….

               photo (15)

…and Glynis was reporting that we had EIGHT inches of the white stuff by yesterday afternoon…and that it was still coming down!!  OUCH!!  My advice…go for a long walk in the stuff, to get your fill, then lock yourself in your sewing room and don’t come out until Spring!  Just think of what you could accomplish!

Have a magical Monday and Happy Stitching!~P

She SHOOT! She SCORES!

My quiet early morning time spent with my blogging friends has been shattered with a HOCKEY GAME being played in the background!!  Sheesh…now that’s a first!  Yes, Canada and Sweden are battling it out for Gold while hubby watches!  He is normally still snug in bed while I have my ‘quiet time’.  If Canada wins then it will be worth a little “he shoots…he SCORES!” noise!

Speaking of He Shoots, He SCORES!…Sandy and I went Garage Saling in Palm Springs yesterday.  Hubby offered to drive us around to the 27 house Neighbourhood Garage Sale!

You just never know what you are going to find…IMG_0662[3]

…and no, we didn’t buy her!  She confessed that she is NOT a quilter!!

These were my two big finds…

Four boxes of frosted votive holders (for my daughter’s August wedding) for a total of 48…all for $10!!  “She Shoots! She SCORES!”

IMG_0156

And I loved this old oak frame…can’t you see a wool stitchery in here…or a small quilt?  And for ONE buck HOW could I NOT buy it?

IMG_0159

It’s fairly big…about 16” so it can handle a fair size piece of work…

IMG_0160

Speaking of a piece of work…look at what was IN the frame…

IMG_0162

Nothing like a bunch of shirtless men hanging out on your wall watching you quilt!! And wouldn’t this make a good conversation piece when all the quilters come over!!  :o))  Yes, that’s hubby flexing his muscles with a few of his golfing buddies…haha

So that’s it for another week in paradise!!  Our weather continues to be HOT…and with this hanging on the wall, it’s bound to get hotter!!

Hope your Sunday is SUNNY and hot too…and happy Stitching!!

“HE Shoots!!  HE SCORES!!” Yup… Canada is up 3-0…GO! CANADA!!  GO!…and I wave my flag!
