WHAT’S WITH THIS??

So what’s wrong with this picture?

Krista (Poppyprint) posted a lovely blog entry yesterday…FYI- Krista lives just outside Vancouver ~where the Olympics are being held.  I am from Vancouver Island, a short ferry ride away …so we are practically neighbours!!

Wouldn’t you know it…Vancouver is experiencing the WARMEST winter weather in recorded history.  Now for you readers out there who aren’t aware of this, Vancouver gets very little snow but a lot of rain.  The good news is when it rains in Vancouver it SNOWS in the area mountains- this is where all the Olympic events will be held…so no rain…NO SNOW, mild temps means rain on the mountains!!  No, not good for skiing!!

Check this out…fast…before it melts!!

Check out Krista’s backyard…yup gorgeous flowers all over the place which means…mild temperatures and NO SNOW on the hills…would you believe that they have to helicopter hay bales into some of the ski areas and then take snow from the top of the mountains and cover the hay to create the desired ski areas that they need…no not good!  Thank goodness our government has an endless supply of money so that they can do this…;o)

Meanwhile Krista is in her backyard enjoying the mild temps and all her lovely spring flowers and here we are, out in the desert, stuck in our 5th wheel because…IT’S COLD AND IT’S RAINING AGAIN!!!  What’s wrong with this picture?

GO, CANADA, GO!!!

We have sun and cold temps, so no snow, no rain, no warm, lol. We may get some later this week though, so will see.

  3. I saw that on tv - doesn't it just figure! Maybe they should get some snow from our capitol, lol, they sure got enough yesterday. The two coasts of North America sure seem to be having odd winters! And to think you're shivering, yep there's something wrong with that.

  4. YEP! The hype is definitely on for the Olympics, the temp here on Friday was looking a lot like Spring and the golf clubs came out and the quilting was put on hold. I think that it was just a teaser so that we would not feel sorry for ourselves for staying put. Enjoying your travelling commentary and the shops you visit.

  5. I think if you keep yourself distracted by all the other things that you have been doing, it shouldn't worry you too much. Think of everything that you (and us your readers)would have missed if you had stayed home - Je ne regrette rien as Piaf said.

  9. Well, something's definitely topsy-turvy. I hope they sort it all out before the weekend. I've got a stack of quilts to bind while I sit in front of the TV watching it all.
