Sucking My Will to Live......

"Sucking my will to live" is a phrase my middle daughter used to describe finding a graduation dress and shoes a few years back. (she is 6 ft 4in tall and has size 11 shoes). This phrase now enters my mind as I have been struggling with unfinished projects. Kim from Kim's Big Quilting Adventure wants to know what we are doing to finish up projects and clean out our sewing rooms this month. Well these projects are unfinished for a reason! THEY ARE SUCKING MY WILL TO LIVE!!!

For instance, this Snowball quilt takes over 100 snowballs. At first I thought easy-I can do this in my sleep. Now if I see one more snowball I want to scream!!!

And these hexagons.....they take forever!!! They took me forever to make and now they are taking me forever to applique!

This quilt when 'finished' just needed a little something so I decided to add a little splash of applique and so it sits.....and sits.....

This one needs a border.....

I made this one for a daughter-it needs to be quilted and little scallops put on....she may never see it!!!

I could go on and on.....So thanks Kim for reminding me about these "unfinished" beauties!!! Today's project?-well it's suppose to be a warm one outside, so what better day, then today to whip up some nice snowballs! @$#%^#

Yesterday as I was surfing other bloggers' favourites I stumbled on this site. If you like the stitcheries, quilts and patterns that are coming out of Australia, like I do, then you must check out The Treasured Thread. They have an awesome selection to order from! Love, love, love their stuff! Maybe something new to start on......hmmm!

  1. Can you make fewer snowballs and make the quilt smaller? Just pick the simplest one to finish and do it! You'll feel so much better! :0)

  2. Keep on going! you gave me renewed courage today; my ufo has hit a challenge snag. I know to just work through will make us feel better than to put it off. "Sucking my will to live"- don't you love it?!? I'm using that one today *smile*

  3. I love the look of snowball quilts but absolutely DESPISE making those boring, repetitive blocks. May the force be with you!

  4. I say skip the "little scallops." Choose one and work on it little by little. I always think of big projects that seem overwhelming as reading a 500 page book. You do it one page at a time. Do a snowball one at a time and if you don't like it do just one a day.
My daughter's quote is "sometimes you just gotta suck it up" (or, for short, just "suck it up.") That was in reference to working in a restaurant and dealing with a difficult customer.
I can't show you all my unfinished work. It would take too long.

  5. Over here we say 'I'm losing the will to live' and in my case it usually is used in conjunction with shopping, either for food in the supermarket or out clothes shopping with my kids. Of course it doesn't apply to fabric shopping - I mean, that's a life enhancer :o)

  8. I can sure relate to all the UFO's. I have more than I even care to list. I should join you and Kim and all the others in the challenge, but there's too much other stuff going on this month. Thanks so much for stopping by my blog. I love yours and will be back too!

  9. Lol... your daughter had the perfect phrase, because I feel the exact same way. Some projects literally suck the life right out of you! Ugh, I know that scenerio only too well. Kim has the right idea though. Look at it as a challenge. I am sure gonna try!

  10. Those are exactly the types of projects that I have too--and they pile up and don't go away! Thanks for writing about the "challenge" but, uh, well, "sucking my will to live"? Is that a nice thing to say about me?! ROFLOL!
