Yesterday the sweat box was humming! Do you remember all the whining, complaining, bitching that I did over the *%@& snowballs, WELL, I have changed my tune!! Yes, I have done a complete 360-I now refer to them as those divine snowballs, those lovely snowballs, those gorgeous snowballs....NEVER again will I ever refer to them as the #$%#^ snowballs! A valuable lesson was learned yesterday....never judge a quilt until it is finished (or something like that...?) Anyways, the important thing about all this is, that I would have NEVER finished this quilt. I would have tossed in the snowballs had it not been for Kim's Challenge! I now have a quilt top that I LOVE and that may look a little TOO good for our 5th wheel! This quilt is going to be hand quilted by my Hand Quilting group-won't that be lovely!!
I HAD to snap a close-up so that you can see how lovely the fabric is.....YIKES!... I did say that, didn't I?
So did you notice in the title that I said -that's "TWO for me"- after finishing off the above quilt, I was flipping through a fall quilting magazine and spotted an oak leaf which triggered a memory of a fall wool table topper that I started last fall..... so I got out my felt bins and found it. Sad little thing still needed two leaves and the acorns plus the blanket stitching around the edges. So that's what I did last night while I watched a little TV. DONE! Now I can't wait for fall-in fact this little felt table topper is on top of the kitchen table right now, waiting....I have this fear that if I put it away in my cupboard I won't remember to bring it out until Valentine's Day! I do that a lot!
It's waiting and waiting and waiting.....for fall that is...not dinner!
Remember how I said that my car stops at all garage sales, that I had NO control over it what-so-ever!!! Well, yesterday morning, on the way to the grocery store, my car veered off the road and took me down a country lane (every lane is a country lane where I live....but it sounds better!) to a garage sale that blew my socks off. I don't want to swamp you with the gory details about everything that I bought... so I will gradually share my bargoooons with you!!
I hope the pictures do this tablecloth justice, as it is just exquisite! It is all hand appliqued on a soft off white cotton-the stitches are so fine I had to turn it over to inspect the work and sure enough it is all hand done. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the little brown pansies. It is huge....which made me wonder if the person who appliqued it was calling them @%$#^@ pansies while she was stitching it up. I think not.....Hmmmmm..... I might cut it up and put it into a quilt of some kind....I know, I know, I can hear the groans in blogland right now.....but I have a VISION....
My camera skills are sadly lacking as the colours are much richer and darker in 'real life'.
My sad attempt at a close-up......but you get the idea. Oh, I forgot to mention that I paid $4 for it!! SCORE!!!
As for today, I am onto PROJECT # 3 for Kim's Challenge....Now which unfinished project will I choose.....? Eeeny, meeeny, miiiiny, moooooe.....

4$ is a bargain, you sure had to buy it. What can you see out of the window on the picture, is it a lake? Your snowballs are great :)
