F- Month...

If you remember, Nancie Anne, from 'Nancie Anne Quilts Blog' and I decided that we would declare F-ebruary to be F-inish It Off month and would post about it every F-riday!  So I am here to report how I did...

Seriously, I got a ton done!  I do enjoy a challenge...but thank goodness it's only for February and thank goodness February is a rainy inside month!  Without an inside focus, one could get cabin fever!
Instead I focused on Log Cabins...Cheri Payne's 'Log Cabins Christmas'!

Here it is, with a few tweaks...and I have started to hand applique everything down...

 I quilted my UFO from years ago...random blocks that were leftovers...and it is now bound and ready for a table!

 Love the colours and the scrap-happiness of this quilt!

 This one...another UFO...is finished and is awaiting quilting and binding...

 It looks better in 'real life'...

 This runner got F-inished..This was another UFO made out of left over squares and HST...yes, I don't throw anything away!

 Yippee...my stitchery blocks from YEARS ago are finally in a F-inished home!

 I love these sweet blocks...

 So that's THREE UFOs that bit the dust this week!  Happy Dancing around here...albeit a bit of a happy-rain-dance!

So with one more Friday left in February I am setting my sights on Finishing the 'Home For the Holiday' quilt, as the border print has been washed and is waiting...This is another UFO...yes, I have a million of them...haha! One can only laugh about UFOs...and not take them too seriously...right?  They will get finished...someday...!   I think it's important to keep a balance between the 'old' and the NEW...It was my NEW project that kept me happy and content this week....my 'Log Cabin Christmas', which I have renamed my 'Log Cabin Fever' quilt!  A little of this and a little of that, keeps this quilter producing a mat!

What about you?  Do you have any UFOs...or is your closet empty of totes and tubs?  Are you a one project gal or do you have fun juggling all those quilts projects?  Please say I'm not alone...

Now it's time for you to leave me and go and cheer on Nancie Anne!  Nancie Anne isn't retired so she doesn't have the luxury of quilting a bit here and a bit there whenever the fancy strikes her! All I can say is, someday Nancie...someday! Not that I am wishing Nancie Anne to get OLD...gawd forbid!  But I do have to say...old or not...retirement is very SWEET!:o)

Here a Tweak, There a Tweak!

A little tweak here and a little tweak there!  (I said TWEAKING...not to be confused with twerking!  I don't want to throw my back out!:o)   Yup, a little tweaking was all that it took to make this wee quilt an all-year-round wall hanging!

The pattern is called "Log Cabin Christmas" by Cheri Payne and is dang sweet!   Seriously, how can you go wrong when you start with the smallest of log cabins and then radiate those logs out!  Below is Cheri's pattern cover...sweet isn't it!!  And LOOK at the angel pillow!  That is definitely on my TO DO LIST too! (Just in case you want to add it to your list, you can find the pattern HERE!:o)

 And here is my tweaked version...simple little tweaks...like changing the holly leaves to regular leaves... and because this will be set inside an old window frame and not a table mat, I turned the top branch right side up.  Done!  Easy peasy!  And I love it!

I have ironed it all in place (with wee dabs of glue where needed) and now comes the fun part...the stitching!  

I have also tweaked the name of this quilt...it's gone from 'Log Cabin Christmas'  to 'Log Cabin Fever'...only because we've had a couple of days of torrential downpour.  I'm hoping for one more rainy day!!  :o))  Let the good times roll...

Woolie Wednesday...

Nothing new here...just reporting in!  Our gorgeous sunny day was absolutely wonderful...spent on the most part, outside enjoying the garden!  Being a Snowbird these last seven years, the one thing that I have missed most is our West Coast Springs!  The pansies are blooming, as are the snowdrops, the daffodils and tulips are up and my yellow daisies are starting to unfold... and the pussy willows are plump and velvety soft!  LOVE Spring!

On the quilting front....I am plugging away with these wee wool appliques!  The baskets and leaves are finished, tonight I will work on 'sprucing up' the flowers!  Adding the special effects!

 I am seriously loving this thread...it's wool thread by Genziana.  Now normally when someone asks me what threads I use, I reply that I use whatever I have.  Around here where threads for doing wool work are hard to find (OK...impossible to find!) you use whatever is on hand!  Using Genziana has spoiled me now.  It is 50% wool...so it looks fuzzy....and 50% acrylic, for strength, so it never breaks!  I love the way it blends right in with the wool...sinks in so that you can't even see your stitches!  I have to look at the back to see if it's been stitched!  I know that Hamel's (a Canadian online shop) carries it...and so do the shops in Calgary!  I think a trip to Calgary is in order!:o))  I like to see those colours...

 Speaking of on-line shops...my border fabric from Missouri Star arrived yesterday and I couldn't be happier!  Talk about good prices and speedy delivery!  Can you see the wee reindeer on the red print...it's the same reindeer in the wool applique!  Love it!  (I should have included  a picture of THAT...but will do that later!)  This is Primitive Gathering's 'Seasonal Gatherings' fabric, as is the pattern (Home for the Holidays).
