The Jungle Drums…

I love it when the Jungle Drums go up and down Blogland…That’s what happened yesterday when pictures of this quilt were posted..the BIG question was who designed this quilt and where to find the pattern..??

P1170127

My blogging friend, Beth heard the drums and came to the rescue!  Beth is also making this quilt with her local Quilt Shop…it’s an OLD Cheri Saffiote Payne pattern and her group is making it through Cranberry Quiltworks Quilt Shop in Brea, CA. (which I think is near where  Sherron lives…!!)  If you have anymore questions about this quilt, you can either email or phone the Cranberry Quiltworks Quilt Shop…or email Cheri at her Blog.  I’m sure Cheri would be delighted to re-release this wonderful quilt!

AND then there is THAT Cathedral Windows Quilt…man, I love this quilt…sigh…

P1170109Thanks to SuperSara20 of Stash Bee Blog for supplying us with a LINK to a wonderful tutorial on how to make the Cathedral Window quilt. Yup…you guessed it…this quilt has been ADDED to MY BUCKET LIST!!

Fiesta from Quilting Fiesta Blog also said that she has a tutorial on her blog…but I’ll be darned if I can find it…I would love to see it!!  (You can see her gorgeous Cathedral Window quilt on her header!!  It is stunning!!)  I tried GOOGLING Cathedral Window Pattern and got this LINK to a smaller version of SuperSara20’s tutorial.

One thing is for sure, when making either of these Cathedral Windows quilts, it’s going to take a TON of background fabric…so if you are thinking of making one, when you see the fabric/colour that you want and it’s on SALE, then buy 10 yards (or more?) as you will probably need it!

I’m thinking that I will start off with a Cathedral Window pillow and if all goes well, maybe…just maybe, it might end up being a quilt…Wishful thinking??  Anyways, my friend, JoAnn, is having a SALE this weekend…and she does sell Kona Cotton…fingers crossed that it is on SALE!!

Have a FUN Friday and Happy Quilting!~P

Sherron’s Sharing…

As you know, the Clubhouse Quilters meet every Wednesday in the North Hall…if there is a Caravan visiting our RV Park then quilting starts at 10am…if there is NO Caravan then we can start any time…the earlier the better!

Now not to be inhospitable or anything… BUT we obviously love it when there is no Caravan!  (If you are wondering what a Caravan is…well it’s a bunch of RVs..usually a Club of some sort and they all come rolling into our park as a huge group…sometimes as many as 20 or 25 motorhomes!  They stay in one area of the park and they use the Clubhouse for group meals and meetings, dances, games, etc.…)  When they rent their space, it’s with the understanding that the quilters get the North Hall from 10-4 every Wednesday…which means we wait for them to leave and at 10 o’clock we march in and take possession!

Today was such a day…with one exception…many of the Caravaners were quilters…so the Clubhouse was FULL of lovely ladies ohhing and ahhing our quilts!  When they saw that many of us are ‘Woolies’…one of the ladies, Sherron, ran back to her trailer for some show and tell of her own!

Sherron’s first quilt took my breath away!!  INcredible!  It’s a cathedral quilt all pieced by hand and done in Civil War fabrics!!  Be still my heart!!

P1170107

Do you see the pattern…the navy is forming the border and also forming a grid throughout the quilt! ST U N N I N G ! !

P1170108

Wonderful!!

P1170109

Here is Sherron’s next row…not sure how she does it but it does look like something that I would like to try…maybe a pillow or a small table topper?

P1170110

Yup…I will have to keep my eye open for a book or a pattern on how to do this!

P1170111Then Sherron unfolded this lovely gem…it’s a BOM from her local Quilt Shop…a combination of cotton backing and wool applique!!  Just wonderful!!P1170112

Here are some close-ups…

P1170124I didn’t get the name of this quilt or the designer but one thing is for sure…this is one Caravan that can come again and often!!

Thanks Sherron, for sharing your talent …and please do come again!

A Little of ‘This and That’!

This month’s February Aurifil Designer is Sherri Falls of “This and That” pattern company.  If you hustle over to Aurofil Buzz you will learn all about Sherri and her designs…and if you are good and not too rowdy…you might be able to download this lovely block for FREE!   Such a sweet little stitchery!image

Isn’t it wonderful when designers are generous with their talents!!  Thanks SEW much, Sherri!!  LOVE IT!

As for me…I am still plugging away on the Wee Baskets…I have finished the baskets and am now chain piecing the sashing…

P1170062

I really love these sweet little 3 1/2” blocks and can’t wait to see what the quilt will look like when it finally gets together!

P1170063

In the evening I am stitching away on the ‘secret’ project for Sew Cal Gal’s ‘GO! Ahead and Show a Little Love’ Blog Hop which begins THIS MONTH!!  I better stitch a little faster!!

SNAKE SPOTTING!!!!!  While driving the truck home from one of our little excursions, I spotted a SNAKE slithering across the road!!  I’m sure he was waiting there for ME… “Yup, here she comes, hurry onto the road and scare the **** out of her!!”  NOW I have been told that ALL snakes are hibernating UNTIL the day we leave!!  What’s with this one??  Does this END my hiking days??  Or do I SUIT UP before I go out??  Sheesh…it just takes ONE to spoil all your fun!

Have a wicked Wednesday and Happy Quilting!~P
