What is small and cute and red all over?

image Thought I’d show you my new bike….and NO I’m not joining the circus…YET!  This is a collapsible bike made for campers. My husband whipped into Camping World for whatever men get in Camping World and came out with this!!  Wasn’t that sweet of him! He knew that I REALLY missed my bike from home but there was just no room for it.  This little guy folds right down to the size of one wheel.

I thought it would be hard to steer this bike with such little wheels but not so~ I love it!  I whip through the park waving and and doing wheelies a few times a day.

If there is one thing I have noticed, campers are VERY friendly, HAPPY people…after all we have left our cold, snowy, rainy homes for the warmth of the desert!  Wouldn’t YOU be happy too! So as I sail through the park everyone yells a greeting or has a silly comment- like…did your bike shrink?  Got to love it!!

ON THE QUILTING FRONT~

Done, done and almost done…. (You’re probably sick of seeing it!

Hopefully I will put you out of your misery shortly!)

I’m hoping to finish this puppy off during our Wednesday quilting day.  Which reminds me…I’m going to have to go to the quilt shop today for some batting…It’s a dirty job but someone’s got to do it!!  ;o)

Have a terrific Tuesday and Happy Quilting!

The Challenge is on!

image

As you can see from the button on the side bar (and the one above) I have joined the nearly 200 quilters who are committing themselves to complete at least one project a month!  OPAM here I come!!  I figured that if I joined OPAM it would be the incentive that I need to get things finished- I mean REALLY finished…like with batting and binding…I tend to get the tops done (which is my favourite part) and then they sit ‘waiting’ to get quilted.  That can’t happen if I am part of the OPAM CHALLENGE!  So thanks Peg and Kris for doing this for us!  I know it’s a HUGE commitment on your part and we appreciate it! So fellow bloggers hurry over to Peg’s as there is probably room for you in this challenge too!

I am also going to challenge myself to become a better machine quilter! :o) And with the help of 365 Days of Free Motion Quilting I just might do it!!

Soooo …LET THE OPAM CHALLENGE FOR 2010 BEGIN!!

LET’S TALK ROAD…THAT’S ROAD TO CALIFORNIA!!  This is what it’s like – two huge rooms like this, plus foyer entrances and hallways  full of vendors and quilt displays.  If you live within a 3 hour radius then GO!! Drive, bus, run, walk, hitch hike, crawl… It’s worth every mile!!

To say that I have been getting excited about the Road to California Quilt Show is a definite understatement!! It is located in Ontario, California (just outside of LA) and starts this Thursday.

There are about 20 quilter in our RV Resort who meet at the Clubhouse every Wednesday (just like home!!).  So the plan is, on Friday, a van load of quilters will be hitting the high ROAD…that’s the Road to California!!  How fun is that!!
Last night I popped into Lisa Bongean’s Weblog and read her posting.  OMG I almost blew a gasket!  Hurry over and see the booth that she is going to set up at the Road To California!!  EVERYTHING I LOVE!!! (As you can tell I am a HUGE Primitive Gatherings FAN.)  So I can’t wait to see it all ‘in real life’!  I’m going to be spending some serious time in that booth!!  Only 4 more sleeps….

Have a marvellous Monday and Happy Quilting!

“Fit to Wear”…I mean “Fit to Frame”…

Yesterday we were driving around Palm Springs and look what I spotted…!!! P1050253

I forgot that there are Garage Sales here year round!   Whooppteee-doo!  We ended up going to three before doing some sight seeing.

I was VERY excited to find these…(ignore my slippers ;o)

P1050278 I know, I know they are just a pair of men’s pants but they aren’t just ordinary pants…they are 100% wool pants…and they are new..do you see where I am going with these lovely wool, new pants?  Yup…

P1050280

I need a border and sashing for the Fit to Frame Blocks and I think I’ve found it!!

P1050284    So what do you think? I know it’s kind of hard to visualize but they are the perfect colour…the check stripes are a chocolate brown and the background is a medium brown.  I think once I cut the pants into strips and sew it together it’s going to look better than a $130 pair of wool pants! (the price tag was still on the pants.)  OR I could wear the pants like this and let the whole world know that I am a quilter!!  hee hee!  No, I will wash and dry them tomorrow and see what happens.

I also found this…

P1050281

This wicker basket was calling my name…and for only $1 I had to have it…I’m not sure what I am going to do with it but….hey it was only a buck!

P1050282

It has an oriental brass clasp on top.  Very cute and it’s sandwiched between two VERY tired dogs.  (There is a dog park here and they went three times today.  Rylie is the hit of the park as she chases every dog there and gets them all going!)

This is the block that I finished last night…only two more to go!!P1050248

Have a super Sunday and Happy Quilting!
