All’s Right With the World…

I have been stewing about my mid-arm not preforming as well as it should…Hubby’s advice was to leave it alone and give it a four month rest…

WHAT?  And stew about it for FOUR long months?

So yesterday morning I gave her new thread, new needle, a dusting and oiling, gave her a few loving strokes and a pep talk  and started a sampler…and low and behold… she purred like a kitten!!  Eureka…before she changed her mind, I put on a small quilt top that I really wanted quilted…and flew at it!!  She went through it like butter…Done!  No fuss, no muss…and no issues!!

Here are the two finishes so far…note the binding got put on last night!!  The top white quilt was the one where I had ‘issues’ but not the green one!

Oh man, that felt so good that I just HAD to try another…so in the afternoon I did the same things…new needle, same thread, a dusting and oiling…the same loving strokes and pep talk and flew at another small quilt…this time the wee bowtie quilt (you might remember the Bonnie Hunter Bowtie Challenge…yup, this little guy has been hanging  around for a while!)…and PRESTO, she’s DONE!!  I’m in heaven!!  Merry Christmas to ME!!

NOW my mid-arm can have her well deserved four month rest and mama won’t be stewing about anything!!  All is right with the world!!

No sewing today…it’s time for Family and Christmas…a little early but much needed!

Have a great day!!~P

  10. Great news. Those cuties deserved to be quilted. So glad everything worked out. I guess the mid-arm knew she would be having a four-month vacation so she decided to co-operate. Have a great weekend with your family.

  12. So glad you figured a way to make it work. It must have been a tad frustrating. I remember one of my Mum's old sewing machines being very fussy and snapping thread when it shouldn't. It really puts you off using the thing then. I think it had better enjoy its rest because when you get after 4 months there will possibly be a few quilt tops that need quilting.

  15. Really like your HST quilt. I'm saving HST's (the left-overs from making Flying Geese with the Bloc Loc ruler). Like the applique on the border - gives it some class!

  24. That is good news. My Dad used to say that most mechanical problems were caused by dirt. So nothing that a good cleaning, oiling and a new needle wouldn't fix.
