California Cruisin’ the Thrift Stores

The SUN was out and all was right with the world!!  ;o)  You would have NEVER believed that we had major flooding or even rain…you had to REALLY look to find a mud puddle!  Aside from all the sand and mud all over major roads you couldn’t tell…back home it takes forever to recover from flooding as the puddles and ponds last forever.

On my way to the pick up some milk this morning, I hit a Thrift Shop…I can’t waste gas, now can I? …hee hee.

I have GOT to share my finds…P1050792   Six Quilting Magazines and three quilting books!!  ALL were 25cents each!!  SCORE!  Do you see the top book – it’s called California Cruisin’ .  Along with the patterns, they have listed all the Southern California Quilt Shops…this book was written for ME!!  So tonight my job is going to be to look up all these shops on the internet to see where they are and if they are still open!!  This book was written in 2001 so some of these shops may have closed…BUT not all of them! ;o)

P1050795

Look what else I found…and I was just talking about these sewing machine mats, with the pockets…this one looks brand new…maybe a gift gone bad?…that’s OK – I’m loving it!! For $2 another SCORE!  I got a kick out of the two ladies at the checkout.  They both wanted to know what it was used for…I guess the whole staff was involved in a discussion on what it was.  They confessed that no one had guessed it’s true purpose.  So for only $4.25 I was feeling pretty pleased with my finds…Yup, there’s nothing like a good Thrift store find…!

Oooops… forgot the milk…I love the way you can spin a U-eee in the middle of an intersection!!  Can’t do THAT in Canada!

Have a super Sunday and Happy Quilting!

  3. Isn't it funny how our "one track mind" makes us forget what we even went to town for! Milk! Great find at second hand store. Have a great week. We're busy cleaning up after snow storm.
