I put a sampler sheet on the mid arm yesterday to do some practice stitching…and in the process messed up the machine! Grrrr…so frustrating!! I dropped the bobbin case and although it looked fine, it clearly was feeling some sort of pain! So off to the Sewing Centre it went for a Spa WEEK! A WHOLE WEEK!
The practice work was in preparation to quilt the Wedding Signature quilt commemorating my daughter’s wedding!
Instead of a guest book, the guests signed a block of fabric. Well the quilt is now officially a top and is ready and waiting for the quilting…
The fabric is called ‘Horizon’ by Kate Spain…and if you look below, you will see that Kate Spain sent a signed block to make Maggie and Toby’s quilt even more special! So thoughtful of her! This fabric is perfect as it really represents the colours of the wedding…mauve was the wedding colour… and we have the green of the forests, the blues of the ocean and the clear blue sky. Perfect!
The quilt turned out WAY bigger than I thought it would. I used one jelly roll and off white Kona cotton to make this quilt… finishing up at 64” X 72”…a perfect size to snuggle under!
Don’t you love this signed block…a little jem in the middle of the quilt!!
Now we sit and wait…or at least this quilt will sit and wait…I have ‘work’ to do!! Pitter patter let’s get at ‘er!
Have a FUN Friday and Happy Stitching!~P
What a wonderful and thoughtful wedding quilt! How nice of Kate Spain to send you a signed block too. Sorry about your machine.....I ran over a ruler on my long arm. Better the ruler than my finger!
ReplyDeleteI just love this quilt! What a wonderful memory piece that is sure to be handed down for generations. Hope you have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteThat is always happens to me, guaranteed my machine acts up when I am ready to do some big projects. Love that block, that is so fun.

First I have heard of Freaking Out Friday.
ReplyDeleteThe one signature block you show was quite creative. The person who did it got quite creative.
good name for it Paulette!!! I have a freak put today too..lol. the wedding signature quilt is a neat idea though
ReplyDeletePaulette, sometimes when you drop the bobbin case the little blue round check spring inside pops out????
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful wedding quilt this turned out to be. Perfect West Coast colours. It's sure to become a family heirloom, and lovely to have Kate Spain's signature. To bad about your mid-arm, but it will give you more time to prep some projects for when you are away enjoying the warm sunshine.

ReplyDeleteAAAAK!! I hate when the MAchine doesn't play nice. Was it a Real "Sheet"? I've heard they are bad for our machines. Good idea fro your wedding quilt.
ReplyDeleteSuch a wonderful quilt! Too bad the machine does't want to cooperate though.:)
