Hollyhock Hill Designs…Pt 2

Yesterday Claire told you all about Hollyhock Hill Designs Online Wool Shop and about her GIVE AWAY.  You got to visit Melvina and see her wonderful wool and wool kits and then you got to pick something that you would like to win…SCREEEEECH…WHAT!?  YOU didn’t do ANY of that ??  Well get over there… NOW!!  GO HERE and do that and we’ll wait…

SEW glad you’re back…

This is a wee reminder…which one of the these things did you pick to  add to your wool stash..that is.. if you should win?~ Gorgeous stuff…isn’t it!

Now it’s MY turn to show you what Claire does with Hollyhock Hill’s gorgeous  wool…

This is how Claire gets her wool from Hollyhock Hills Wool shop…aren’t they lovely….  Can’t you see these lovely beiges and browns and black used as backgrounds for a penny or cut into baskets..or acorns…or crows or…houses…for appliqué.

image

Well Claire does ALL of that but she also cuts up that glorious wool and dyes the pieces…

See Claire started with the beige check in the background…which she bought by the yard from Hollyhock Hill Designs….

..and then she dyed them…yum!!

…and dyed some more!!image

I just want to roll around on her lawn for awhile…tossing these lovely pieces of wool up in the air!  Sounds weird…but come on…I know you want to join me…

See the good thing about finding a Wool Shop like Hollyhocks is you can buy quality textured or plain wool by the yard and then dye it into any colour that you may want or need!  And it so much FUN!!  Now I know there are some of you ‘out there’ who may poo-poo the idea of dyeing your own wool…it IS messy…so that’s where Melvina comes in…DID YOU SEE ALL THOSE MOTTLED HAND DYED WOOLS!!…AND ALL THOSE LOVELY TRIO PACKETS!!…sigh…loved it all!!

With a friend like Claire, is it any wonder why I am WOOL CRAZY!!  And NO, Claire and I are not on commission from Hollyhock Hills!!  We just LOVE Melvina’s products and wanted to share that with the rest of the world…when you find an excellent product and great service at a reasonable price you got to get the word out!!

Which reminds me~

Claire wanted me to pass on a big THANK YOU as she really was tickled by all your lovely comments…I think it would take very little to get Claire to start her own blog…maybe next year after she retires she will get out of the Sidecar…Claire has only ONE MORE year of school…and then LOOK out Wool World!

Have a Thrilling Thursday and Happy Quilting~P

  4. What beautiful wools and shades, she does a beautiful job on dying. I am more of the throw wool in the pot and see what happens, type of girl, lol. To a wool lover a picture of beautiful dyed wool is better than all the diamonds in the world;)

  5. Come-on Claire...listen to Paulette and start your own blog!!! I LOVE wool projects and there's no such thing as too much wool-iciousness (how's that for a made up word!) to drool over every day! These colors are so vibrant!
