Dyeing for Wool? How about a GIVE AWAY!!

My wool crazy friend Claire has taken my blog hostage…she says she has been sitting in the sidecar long enough and wants a day or two for her own little GIVE AWAY!!  WHO AM I TO ARGUE WHEN THERE’S A GIVE AWAY AT STAKE!!  So sound the trumpet…toot those HORNS…

PRESENTING…CLAIRE and HER Give Away!!

Dyeing for Wool?  Well then, let’s have a Giveaway!

Paulette has been blogging for over 2 years now and has been kind enough to let me ride along in the sidecar!  I get to enjoy all the benefits of blogging without having to do any of the work!

So today we are celebrating with a wonderful GIVE AWAY!

Do you love wool?   Have you wanted to try wool appliqué or rug hooking?  In my early days of searching for wool I turned to the rug hooking sites and I was lucky enough to stumble upon Melvina's online wool shop, Hollyhock Hill Designs.  Melvina is a wonderful lady who loves wool as much as we do…maybe even more!

If you live in our neck of the woods, beautiful hand dyed or bolt wool is hard to come by, but if you love wool, you find a way to get it!   Melvina has just the shop for us…she has a fantastic selection of "off the bolt" wools which are ones that we use for overdyeing.

At Hollyhock Hill Designs, Melvina has spot dyed wools which are lovely, mottled pieces and she has "trios" which are 3 pieces of wool-2 textures and 1 plain dyed together in the same pot. You have to see them to appreciate the richness of colour and you aren't going to believe her prices-very reasonable.

image

Canadians will be happy to hear that Melvina ships to Canada and will actually go to the post office and find the cheapest option for you if you aren't in a rush for your order. (Some of the sites that use the online click-and-ship methods can be very pricey for Canadian customers).

Melvina also has the most adorable beginner rug hooking kits.  If you have been wanting to try it but didn't want to invest a lot of money in supplies then this may be for you! Anyway, check it out for yourself and join our giveaway.

Here's the GIVE AWAY scoop:
Go to Melvina’s shop, Hollyhock Hill Designs and check out the goods. Drool. Think of a little something you would dye for. Is it a yard of the lovely bolt wools? Is is one of the precious hand dyed trios or spot dyed wools? Maybe a beginning rug hooking kit? If it is, then you might be in luck. Come back and leave a comment on this post telling us which of these lovely wooly things you desire and we will randomly pick a winner on Wooly Wednesday, August 10th.  The lucky winner just might be YOU!

Claire (aka…The Sidecar Stitcher..)

**********As you can see, Claire is serious about giving away some wool…I know exactly what I would pick…did you check out those sweet little bundles of hand dyed trios…dyed from the same colour pot!!  Gorgeous!! Love them ALL…the hard part is to choose a colour.  Think I’ll go back for another look….

Thanks so much, Claire!!  Anytime you want to have a Give Away FEEL FREE to jump right in…right readers?!!  We will gladly take it off your hands!

Have a Wonderful Wooly Wednesday and Happy Quilting!~P

  1. I've been wanting to try working with wool for a long time. I love the mottled colors. I had no idea that you could get wool like this. And I'm Canadian. If I win and there is a shipping surcharge, I'll gladly pay. I visited the site and I'd definitely be interested in a kit. That way I know I have all the right things for my very first project.
