I’m Yearnin’ for a Churnin’…

… Churn dash..that is!!  Ever since I saw a little scrappy churn dash quilt in my travels last winter I have been yearning to make one…so yesterday I googled ‘small churn dash block’ (what did we EVER do before the computer??) and it took me right to Sentimental Stitches…the same blog where we have been downloading Beyond the Cherry Tree BOM!  Wendy is also giving away Midget blocks…like this one..it was number 19 out of the 92 that you can download for FREE!

Isn’t it so gosh darn cute…!  And look at the instructions…lots of pictures and clear step-by-step simply instructions!!

P1080258And I got to use a few of my new what-cha-ma-call-its.  This little marking tool worked great…and it was only $2!!  Loved it and when I used a mechanical pencil with a long lead it was dead on 1/4 inch.  So I would rate it a 10 out of 10…a good thing!   P1080261

See..how easy is this?  Mark the middle or the sides…or all of the above!!

P1080262

And I bought this ruler from my buddy Eleanor Burns at the Road to California…Have a I told you how nice she is?..well she is and boy can she TALK but in a good way!!  Anyways..back to the ruler…

P1080264

See how you line it up and then trim…the centre line should go over to the left just a bit more (hard to hold with one hand and take a picture with the other…I think I need to hire a photographer!)…see how it should go right down the point (where the number 4 is) and the number two line goes right through the middle of the seam…worked GREAT…another 10 out of 10!! P1080265

Now everyone- all at once say…”ahhhhhhh”…aren’t they just the sweetest  little Churn Dash blocks.  Just over 4 inches small!

P1080268

So what am I going to do with them?…Don’t know but I sure like’em!!  They are made from Jo Morton civil war fabric (I think).  The fabric came as a bundle of fat eights and one still had a selvage on that said Jo Morton.  Regardless…the small print is perfect for these little guys…I think I’m going to have to make a whole bunch of them and see what comes about!
