My Patchwork Turtle!

Another day spent NOT sewing…jeeze louise…what’s this world coming to!!  Life is getting in the way…doesn’t it know that I’m retired and I SHOULD be able to do whatever I want to do!! ;o) Apparently not…!

I just finished watering the garden...every time I water this little guy I marvel at how much I enjoy him!  Isn’t he sweet…?P1080384Do you remember him?  I bought him at a Garage Sale last year.

I think he’s a plant stand…?  He was kind of boring last year…or should I say a little naked looking…he DOES look a little embarrassed, doesn’t he?  But with the help of some chicken wire, soil, moss and some succulent plants…he’s looking more like a turtle!

I was a little worried about him~ left out on the sundeck to weather the winter all alone but he did just fine…

In fact, Rylie thinks he did great while we were away!  Look at his back..

P1080392   Like a patchwork quilt…P1080388  He is even flowering!!P1080390 P1080391 The moss is nice and shaggy and the succulents love him-look at all the little babies!    Yes, I enjoy watering this little guy!

Have a Super Saturday and Happy Quilting!

Yes, life does get in the way of sewing--even when you are retired. Darn.

  4. I understand, I have been working in the garden and house the last two days. Tonight I will relax and do some stitching. I love your turtle, that is really clever and creative.

  7. That is the coolest looking thing! Dear Hubby would love it. He really likes succulents.

Know how you feel about another day NOT sewing. It's really starting to bother me. Think the family would notice if I went AWOL for a couple of hours?

  14. I'm sorry Paulette but i think that turtle is quite bizarre. Are you familiar with Dr Who, the english television series? I think he could get an acting job. Or with some fine tuning, it could be the main character in a children's book. I think there are great possibilities here. Your turtle is unique.

  16. Your turtle is growing in nicely! I bet you'd like my garden creatures too. I have a giraffe frame and an alligator. The alligator has the moss and I grow hens and chicks in it. The giraffe is not stuffed with any moss, but I grow ivy on that.
