One of my favourite blogs is Cathi’s Pennies. Cathi has been making wool penny rugs for ten years and to say that they are incredible is an understatement! She must spend days on one of these little mats and then she turns around and sells them on Ebay! I don’t know how she can part with them as they are all labours of love. The detail on the scarecrows, leaves, sunflowers, snowmen, boots, flowers…..is stunning.
Yesterday, I was thrilled to read that Cathi is going to be making patterns of these lovely little mats!! And lucky us, we get to buy them! I made my first penny rugs last year and they are nothing like Cathi’s. Check out her blog and don’t forget to give her some encouragement to crank out those patterns! Then if you haven’t already tried to make a penny rug, hop to it! Dig around in your closet….got any old wool blazers….?you know the ones with the big fat shoulder pads…well cut them up, wash them in hot water, then throw them in the dryer to felt them. Your all set….start cutting and stitching….Cathi is posting a tutorial on how to make this gorgeous snowman table topper. We are getting a free lesson from the pro…all we need now is the pattern! Come on Cathi, crank out those patterns….. I have a line-up forming…..!
Thanks Cathi for all the inspiration, tutorials and finally, patterns to go with all that lovely eye candy!!
Have a fantastic felting Friday and Happy Quilting!
Too cute!! I've resisted penny rugs... up until now. (And I do have a weakness for snowmen.) I'm adding Cathi to my "blog-walk" this weekend!!! Paulette, thanks for sharing!

Thanks for telling me about Cathi's Pennies! Awesome!
ReplyDeleteOh aren't you just the sweetest thing. I knew Canadians were special!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for the kind words AND the free advertisement. I really appreciate that.
Sometimes I do have a difficult time selling something that I've made but my house can only hold so much! It's rewarding to know that my things are going to loving homes, so that helps.
Thanks again!
Cathy
