It’s a FINISH…

… and long before the snow flies too!  Nothing like hanging out on the front porch on a warm Autumn day…

P1150578

I love everything about this quilt…the colours, the textures and the big stitch hand quilting. The snowman block was taken from a Primitive Gathering Pattern Called ‘Cabin Friends’…you can find the pattern HERE.

P1150599

But the rest of the blocks I made using my GO! Fabric Cutter and the 1 1/2” Strip die…you can see the tutorial HERE.

I started the quilt top well over a year ago…and then it sat in the cupboard waiting to get quilted!  You know how that goes…P1150581

I finally hand quilted it using the big stitches and perle cotton.   P1150586

I might have to take this one down South with us this year…becauseP1150589

…I’ve never seen a snowman in the desert before!  And those desert nights can get cool…

Hope you like it too…

Have a Sunny Sunday and Happy Quilting!~P

Yes, AZ can be cold in winter. Were you exposed to the "once every 100 years" freeze in 2010?

  12. Turned out just adorable. Will you be washing it or just telling everyone to be real careful with it? Wondering how the big stitch washes ........

  20. Okay.

That's it. I'm completely in love. You have managed to take my very favorite things (snowmen, plaids, harvest colors, piano key borders) and create the P.E.R.F.E.C.T. quilt!!!

Would you mind sharing a few things with me? In case, you know, I'd want to....copy your cleverness? Would that be okay???

Did you use wool for the snowman? Does that effect the ability to wash the quilt? Do you think it would be okay to mix cotton and flannel plaids? I have a mixture of both, but I'm wondering about shrinkage.

    Any sage advice?

Love this one. You did a wonderful job!!!

  25. It turned out fantastic, Paulette! I've seen the original pattern through Primitive Gatherings, but theirs only makes a 25" square wall hanging. I'd love to make one of these, but much bigger. What size did yours turn out to be? It really turned out cute - LOVE it!

  37. I love the quilt!! I have been watching your progress with interest and have been inspired to pick up the hand quilting again - I am a bit of a big stitch quilter as well. The design of the quilt is so simple (I mean that in a good way) but so effective and I just love the adorable little snowman peeking out. Well done - enjoy your quilt.
