Don’t you hate it when you have been busy sewing but there really isn’t much to show…YET… I am almost finished hand quilting this quilt…it has tons of BIG stitch hand quilting and took me forever to stitch but it’s going to be SEW worth the extra effort! It’s off the frame and I’m working on finishing up edges..I can see an end in sight! I have finished tracing all 12 blocks of the Autumn Quilt onto Steam a Seam Lite…would you believe that there are 4 metres worth of pattern pieces!
It took me hours…one movie and an audio book worth! I should count all the little pieces but that would probably take another movie or two! :o)
So the pattern is now ready to be ironed to the back of this lovely wool. I have been collecting/dyeing this wool for a year now and it was so nice to have it ready and at hand. Last time I made a wool quilt I had to stop to dye the wool as I didn’t have the colours that I needed or wanted. It was so nice to have a stash ready and waiting…
And then I pulled all the background fabrics…gorgeous Japanese textured fabric that I bought at the Heart to Hand booth at Road to California last year…this quilt is going to be a fun one to stitch…
Aren’t they gorgeous??
So there you have it…one quilt coming to an end and one just beginning…with lots of UFOs in the middle!! :o)
Have a magical Monday and Happy Quilting!~P

LOVE your new quilt and the big stitch you used! Is the center of each square black?
ReplyDeleteThat's a huge job transferring all those pieces onto the Steam a Seam! I know you will appreciate all the preparation later but what a marathon it has been. Now all you need to do is iron it on, cut it out and then be ready to sew. Hang on - that's another marathon!!!
ReplyDeleteAll the colours and fabrics do look good.
Girl I am so impressed. What a job. I can't wait to see it when it is finished!
ReplyDeleteSummer has gone by way too fast, but Fall is my fav season so can't wait to watch your journey on your next piece.
ReplyDeleteI love both quilts! The plaids are what I have been collecting and using for many years already, and the wool is - just delicious! You must be so careful not to misplace any of the appliqué pieces.
ReplyDeleteI love your photos of fabrics and wool. They're always so rich and warm.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to order the BOM for the Autumn Quilt from Heart to Hand. I don't have a large stash of wool, so I'm thinking they will have great wools in their kids each month. Can you direct me to a site for the Japanese texture fabrics? I've been searching the web to no avail.Heart to Hand doesn't carry them. Thanks.
