It’s was a dreary, dismal day of driving…SNOW outside of Sacramento…and it was sticking!!
Yup, there’s snow on that palm tree! And BIG fat, flakes were falling…
We turned off the I-5 for the coast and it warmed up considerably…12C…NOT exactly a heat wave but we’ll take it! I am still in Canadian mode of saying the temperature in Celsius…give me a few months and I will be giving it to you in Fahrenheit! Same with ordering fabric…it takes a while to get into the swing of asking for yards instead of metres…CAN’T WAIT to start doing that!!
So we arrived in Santa Cruz and quickly decided to change our plans a bit and head to Pismo Beach tomorrow instead of Monday. Love Pismo Beach… we stay right on the water and you can walk to the town…and to the Quilt Shop!
We took the dogs for a run on the beach before dinner…they loved it! Especially after three days where they haven’t been able to run free!! They had a ball!
Wouldn’t it be fun to live in one of these beach homes?
Some Quilting News from my friend Delores- She received an E-Reader for her birthday so decided to make a special cover for it using left over selvages.
Here it is…isn’t it cute?
She recycled a Moda ribbon left over from one of her Fat Quarter Bundles… it keeps this little package closed and tidy tied with a sweet bow! And Fandango on the inside!!
This is SEW Fandango sweet! If you go HERE you can watch the video on how to make this cover!
Delores also made a ruffled camera strap cover for her daughter’s new camera . She is just sew clever!!
Thanks for sharing,Delores! You did an awesome job!!
Have a super Sunday and Happy Quilting!~P
I don't know which I prefer, I was in Sacramento in June and it was a sweltering 105F or somewhere in there!
ReplyDeleteYour stop on the beach walking distance to a quilt shop sounds perfect Paulette!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing the wonderful photos of your trip. I live in Southern Illinois and will never get to travel along the coast. It is great to see all the neat places and quilt shops. I bought the Summertime kit from Primitive Gatherings last year but I have never started it. You have inspired me to get it out and try to make it my new project for 2011! Be safe and keep the the pictures coming.
ReplyDeleteI'm enjoying your trip. Snow in Sacramento is very rare - take it from a California born and raised.
ReplyDeleteI love Pismo Beach but it is too cold (damp cold) for Big T. He can handle the snow cold but not that dampness of the coast.
Hugs - Marie
I hope you find the warmth and the sun soon! A quilt shop just a walk away sounds so nice. I hope it's a great shop!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your vacation...and sun!!!
ReplyDeleteLooks like the walk on the beach was just what everyone needed.
ReplyDeleteSmooth sailing the rest of your trip.
I see your black and white dog - what kind of dog is that ?.....it looks like Large Munsterlander dog...
ReplyDeleteI am with you, head south till you hit warmth, lol.
ReplyDeleteIt is warm for here, but all the snow is melting, and it is a wet mess now.
Debbie
I just love it when dogs walk/run themselves and each other! What a fun photo of the boys. Drive safely!
ReplyDeleteHi Paulette,
ReplyDeleteIt's raining heavy here in San Luis Obispo. They expect it to rain all day today and tomorrow as well.
Don't forget to visit "Quilting Cousins" in Pismo Beach too! As well as the "Quilt Shop" in Arroyo Grande.
Safe travels,
Elaine in SLO, Ca
I just love the California and Oregon coast lines. They are so amazing, I often do the drive in either May or September, before the children are out of school or after they go back to school. Less traffic that way.
ReplyDeleteDon't forget the shop in Morro Bay.
looks like Molly and Rylie had a great run!!!...it never snows in California??..or is that rain??..what the heck is with the weather!!?..Pismo Beach??..how surreal that will be..safe travels to you all!..and happy quilt shopping!!!
ReplyDeleteIt looks like you all had fun at the beach!
ReplyDeleteMicki
Oh I am so jealous :) Some day we will need to meet again and share quilt patterns...you are so lucky to stop at all the quilt stores along the way...the ones I know of from So Cal are proabably all closed up by now...happy traveling
ReplyDeleteYou just can't get away from that snow, can you!? But the puppies sure seem to be enjoying the beach! I'm sure you are, too.
ReplyDeleteIf you are going to be living in one of those beach houses then I'm coming to join you! I can't think of anywhere better!!
ReplyDeleteThe selvedge made case is really nifty, and so practical too.
Oh dear, you've made me want to walk on the beach now...maybe not in the pitch dark, it'll have to wait til tomorrow!!
How perfect, I am waiting for my Christmas E-reader to arrive. I will be able to have the best cover in town! I decided this was the thing for me when my husband took 120 books on holiday in his kindle, weighing almost nothing, and idiot me carried around several paperbacks in my luggage. No more.
ReplyDeleteSoon you'll be seeing sunny skies!! Love Delores' little cover! Sew cute!
ReplyDeleteSnow on palm trees - now that sounds like a horror movie in the making! The beach looks just wonderful, love the pic of the pups. Who's walking who?? LOL!
ReplyDeleteLove Dolores' project, happy birthday to her!
