We said good-bye to Pismo Beach and all those wonderful Quilt Shops and said HELLO to Desert Hot Springs, our Winter destination!
Here are some pictures of our loooonnnngggg 5 hour drive down here…
A little island joined by a long bridge…gorgeous picture…not sure what the island is called or who lives there…someone rich and the famous??
This is where I will be going when I start up my own quilting show….Hey if Paula can do it with cooking, why can’t Paulette do it with quilting ??
And of course the LA Freeway….YIKES!! How do people drive freeways EVERY DAY? Get me out of here!
Of course I worked on stitching another block of Summertime…which wasn’t easy as the roads were so bumpy and the big semi-trucks were whizzing by!! And I had to co-pilot….(shreek!!)
Pulling into The Sands RV Resort was a little like arriving home!! SEW good to be here!!
We finished off the day by ordering Mexican food…something that we NEVER have!! (Ahhh to have a Mexican Restaurant back home!!) Delish!!
I have been craving a Taco Salad for about 8 months now! Yumm…I’m sure the avocado cancels out the sour cream….and the lettuce cancels out the flaky shell…
My husband had chicken enchiladas….
Served on our best china, of course…
How do you say “It’s time to pig out” in Spanish? Until next time…I can’t talk with my mouth full…
Have a Fun Friday and Happy Quilting!~P
I miss mexican food (the real stuff) more than anything else about California. Nothing can compare to it (and the hotter the better).

Glad you arrived "home" safe and sound. I'm sure Molly and Rylie are just as pleased to see the last of those LA Highways too! Have a great day getting reacquainted with your new old digs.
ReplyDeleteIn Maine there was a little house on an small island of rocks, would be fun, but no privacy at all, lol. That food looks way too good.

No fair! Now I want Mexican food for supper.....
ReplyDelete8 months??? how can you go that long? Living in So. Texas, we fix it a lot and there are lots of good Mexican restaurants.
ReplyDeleteHope you enjoy your winter months.
We do have some good Mexican food here in SoCal. I love it, and the spicier the better. And what, you mean you don't like driving on our freeways? Where's your sense of adventure! LOL
ReplyDeleteyum, your food is making me hungry. I can make my own Mexican food but that doesn't mean I don't enjoy restaurant style Mexican :)
ReplyDeleteYummy! Glad you arrived to your destination safely. Now enjoy!!
ReplyDeleteGlad you made it to California! But, I was already hungry and then I saw your taco salad and now I'm craving one! YUMMO!!!
ReplyDeleteGlad you made it to your next destination. I wouldn't be surprised if that little island was actually a drilling rig of some kind or a pumping station.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you, the LA freeways are horrid. Every time I have to go down there I bury my head in a book or, like you, try to do some stitching.
I love the double laptops next to your dinners - lol!
Were you able to go to the Creation Station, Buellton on your trip down? Maybe on your way back, fun stuff and a great bunch of folks working there. Oh and the Treasure Hunt in Carpenteria. We love the desert, too.
ReplyDeleteVery glad to hear you have arrived safe and sound. Dinner looks yummy. A quilting retreat on that island would be be great wouldn't it. Hope the bridge would be up to the weight of a sewing machine or two.
ReplyDeleteLooks delicious. Did I miss dinner?
ReplyDeleteadios taco salad!..looks delicious!!!..I know which computer is yours!??..the 'chartruse one'..have a great evening..windy and rainy today..so you are not missing much!1
ReplyDeleteSounds like that real mexican food is delicious. Enjoy settling in!! Hugs Ariane
ReplyDeleteMy cousin owns a condo in Palm Desert and goes down every year once she finishes teaching school.
ReplyDeleteI love the Thai Smile restaurant for some authentic Thai food. Their Red Mountain beef dish is spicy but great.
Have a fun relaxing time down there and get a lot of stitching done.
It was nice to see the blue skies in California, they've had so much rain lately.
Hey, forget about that Mexican food.
ReplyDeleteI can not believe - Desert Hot Springs
I grew up in DHS.
It's been years since I've been there and I am certain it has changed.
But still it's the place where I grew up.
Hugs,
Gerry
Forget the food, I want my own island. But no bridge - don't like bridges - have to come by boat or copter. I can't imagine driving LA freeways in an RV! Glad you're "home"!
ReplyDeleteGlad you've arrived safely Paulette. I can't believe you're back down there again tho - the year seems to have gone by so quickly. When I first started following your blog you were snowbirding - something totally alien here in the UK.Enjoy your time there.

How do you say that in Spanish? Yum yum, I think.
ReplyDeleteGoing to have to look up the town you are in and see where in California you are staying. That table looks yummy....I love Mexican food.
ReplyDeleteFood, laptops and a quilt....what more could you need?? LOL
ReplyDeleteNo one lives on that little island, but they pump oil on it! It's privately owned, just for that. You passed through my city about 15 minutes after seeing the island :) Glad you made it okay through the evil freeways. So scary! Have a great time enjoying all that Mexican food. I could eat it every day too.
