If you are a regular reader, than YOU know how I love quilting…you may even know that I love a good book! Recently I was approached by Litfuse Publicity Group asking if I would like to read and review books from Abingdon Press’ Quilts of Love book series. If you ask me, love and Quilts go hand and hand, so of course I said YES!
I just finished reading the first book, ‘A Promise in Pieces’ written by Canadian author Emily T. Wierenga. I have to say it was a VERY good read! It grabbed my attention right away…as the main character Clara, an elderly woman, is retelling her life’s story to her grandchildren. Tell me more…tell me more!! I don’t very often pick up a book in the afternoon (I’d rather be sewing)…but I was drawn back to the story in this book…I had to find out how Clara’s life was going to unfold…and of course, it revolved around a baby quilt! I have to tell you the story was heart-rending in places and hilarious in others!
Let me also tell you a bit about this series of books….
Abingdon Press has created a line of books that not only appeals to a wide variety of fiction readers, but is sure to catch the interest of quilters around the world. Each novel in the 25-book series is written by a different author and offers a completely unique story, setting and cast of characters. The books do not need to be read in order and can be enjoyed individually.
The idea behind the series (launched fall 2012) is that quilts tell stories of love and loss, hope and faith, tradition and new beginnings. The Quilts of Love series focuses on the women who quilted all of these things into their family history. Featuring contemporary and historical romances, as well as Amish fiction, women’s fiction and the occasional light mystery, readers are drawn into the endearing characters and touched by their stories. A new book will be released each month through January 2015.
If you would like to read an over-view of the book, ‘A Promise in Pieces’ you can go HERE . You will also see that the 85 people who reviewed this book so far gave it 4.6 out of 5! I would rated it 4.
Now for the good part…I have finished reading the book and would like to share the love by GIVING it AWAY!! If you would like to read ‘A Promise In Pieces’ then leave a comment. I will randomly pick a winner on Sunday. Good luck!
Have a super Saturday and Happy Stitching!~P
