My husband says Garage Saling is a disease…I say that it’s a form of entertainment! I mean really, where can you go or what can you do for $1? I had more fun opening up that DOLLAR bag of sewing stuff than a kid going to a Candy Shop!
Sure there was some crap in the bag…but there were tons of things that were great! Just look at that thread…we all know how much ONE spool is worth and it’s a lot more than $1!
Vicki T. wrote and told me that she saw these Chadwich hemmers on Ebay…and that they are indeed used for hemming! I also discovered someone is trying to sell them for $28!! Yup, they were in that dollar bag…hmmm maybe I will try to sell them? That WOULD make hubby happy…maybe he wouldn’t consider this a disease after all!! Anyone want some high quality VINTAGE Chadwich hemmers..for you only $20!! See we are talking deal! haha
So Sunday Morning I ‘gently’ reminded hubby that we needed to take the truck and pick up my BIGGER GS finds! He was quick to REMIND me that two big things in, means two BIG things OUT! hmmm I remembered our rule…I just can’t decide which two big things? I will have to think about that one…
Off we went…and it was no easy feat…the TV armoire and leather chair were big, cumbersome and heavy!! And we had to work around the tow hitch which is bolted to the bottom of the truck. I have to tell you, hubby took it all in stride…without one word of complaint!
So here they are!! The armoire is for a TV with storage underneath and the chair is for my ‘new’ sitting room…which is still under construction! So for now they will stay in the dog house…I mean the garage!
Oh…and did I tell you how much I paid? Maybe YOU should sit down! I got them for only $25 each! That’s less than a pizza! A couple can’t go to the show for this!! How about dinner out? Nope can’t do it..well MAYBE MacDonalds…but is that REALLY dinner out?
So just close those garage doors while I sit a spell…and savour the buy!! heehee…I told you GSing was fun!!
Today my sewing room floor gets put down!! Then it’s just the baseboards and I can start moving ‘stuff’ in…{insert happy dance!!!}
Have a Magical Monday and Happy Quilting!~P
I would say you did more than WONDERFUL with your finds and what they cost. The armoire and chair for $25. each is just amazing. I should be so lucky.
ReplyDeleteI thought I did good getting a little glass lamp for .75
Enjoy your treasures.
I love shopping at garage sales too and here nearby we have two fantastic resale shops too-good deals!! enjoy
ReplyDeleteI never get that lucky at yard sales, but I have found good buys at the consignments. Nice to be able to find nice things for a fraction of the cost.
ReplyDeleteDebbie
Time for a Happy Dance! Garage Saling is also therapeutic, and much cheaper than professional therapy! Tell hubby you're actually a pretty cheap date. Enjoy your finds!
ReplyDeleteOh I would love the cabinet. I would put glass doors on it and shelves in it and use it as a Quilt Cupboard. Maybe you should see if they have another one!!
ReplyDelete$25 each? Yikes!
ReplyDeleteI think you should be arrested for stealing! BTW, do you need an accomplice?...just asking. *wink*
Beautiful armoire, Paulette. And what a price. Is it going in your sewing room? The chair is perfect, too. Looks very comfy. Have you decided which two big items are going?lol
ReplyDeleteYou're becoming quite the "dealer" now, aren't you? There are lots of people that pick up things at garage sales and then resell them on-line. Glad to hear that Rick didn't get a slipped disc from loading that "loot". Hope your sewing room is on the ground floor, and you don't have to carry those things up any stairs! Now...about those 2 big things that must go????? (Do they have to be yours...or could they be Rick's? You could get rid of that old JD mower, and maybe a bag of golf clubs??) ;))
ReplyDeleteYour finds were awesome! Only at yard saling would you be able to find such an amazing deal as on those two items. Your hubby should be really proud of the money you saved him!
ReplyDeleteYou are the best GSer I know Paulette!
ReplyDeleteI CAN'T BELIEVE IT! Are you telling us the truth? $25 for both? Gosh, maybe you should hold GSing seminars for the rest of us. That armoire looks fantastic. The two big things that must go...hmmm. I agree with Russ, I say hire a couple of goats to mow the grass and get rid of the mower. I'm sure Mr. SweetP has a big man grill on the patio you can do without! Ha! A side note, on Memorial Day (US), remembering those who serve and have gone before them.
ReplyDeleteThat sewing room is going to be very stylish and can't wait to see how you set it up!
ReplyDeleteWell you certainly got a good deal. That cabinet could hold a lot of fabric. We have the same rule "one in, one out".
ReplyDeleteI agree it's entertainment! Back when my sons were little, I would give them each 50 cents and take them to garage sales on Fridays in the summer. They LOVED it! It was amazing what they would buy with their money. It taught them to be frugal, to weigh the costs of buying something with what little you have, and they were "royally" entertained! One son, although grown and with children of his own, still has a music box he bought with his money. What fun memories!
ReplyDeleteYou are the Queen of Garage Sales - those are wonderful finds!!!!
ReplyDeleteDoing a Happy dance for you....great finds.
ReplyDeleteYou DID get some good loot. I don't do garage sales anymore. Terry always finds stuff he HAS to have but really doesn't NEED...we don't have that 1 in and 1 out deal.
ReplyDeletexx, Carol
Holy Moly!!! $25!!!! I need to go to garage sales with you!!! I can't wait to see your new sewing studio!!!
ReplyDeleteI think the $1 bag of sewing stuff was a great bargain. I would have loved to go through that stuff. Now I'm getting the urge to take up garage saling again.
ReplyDeleteYou really do find some great bargains when you go GSing. That chair looks comfy, and what price to pay for the 2 big items of furniture.
ReplyDeleteWow Paulette!! You did score at that garage sale! Love the armoire and the chair- what great finds! I'd be doing a happy dance too!:)
ReplyDeleteI don't even know what Chadwich Hemmers are! But hey, if somebody has them on sale maybe I need some. :) blessings, marlene
ReplyDeleteThere's not much I can say about that deal, other than holy crap! Score!
