A Guilt Free Day…

I had a wonderful day yesterday..I spent about an hour poking around the thrift shops in a little town called Sidney- while waiting for my daughter’s ferry to dock…Sidney is a gorgeous little town right on the ocean about 10 minutes from the ferry terminal…full of wonderful unique shops…oh…and lots of thrift shops!! I found some wool scores…

2 metres of this black and white herringbone (perfect for dyeing!!) and 1 metre of the red check (perfect for Christmas)….

And two jackets…also perfect for the dye pot!!

Yum….

So with my loot stowed away I managed to make it to the Ferry Terminal in time to watch the Ferry pull into the harbour…what a gorgeous sight!!  I love living on this island…it truly is paradise!!P1070796-1   I put my camera away and forgot to take pictures of the rest of the day!!  Geeze!!  But I can tell you this, Maggie and I had a wonderful day…shopping, lunch, shopping..iced coffees while we walked the harbour and then at the end of the day I dropped her off at a friend’s.  Her friend Dana is celebrating her 28th birthday and there was a party planned… So all in all the PERFECT day!!  Did I mention that the sun was shining and it was lovely and warm?  Maggie had a new haircut and looked gorgeous and sophisticated and SO grown up…how did that happen??

So today in the midst of writing this my youngest daughter phoned and we had a long, lovely chat….I am so thankful for telephones and emails!!  Without them, how could mothers stand to have their chicks leave the nest…? Sigh….I miss my little chicks…

So I have decided that I am going to spend the day guilt free doing what I WANT to do…(no thought to those weeds in the garden…they will after all, be there tomorrow!!)…like…finishing this off… P1070799 Sorry about the light…it’s just so darn sunny… :o)

AND I think I will get the dye pot out…and see what magic I can create….

Hope you blogging Mothers out there have a wonderful day spent with those you love most…be it two legged or four!!

  12. Your day sounds wonderful, and look how productive it was - great finds there! I don't know how mums stood it before telephones, I really don't. Especially if their chicks went off into the unknown. I hope you enjoyed your day thoroughly!

Hi Paulette, I am new to reading your blog, but inspired already!! I love what you have done with your wool treasures. I have a question though....do you felt your wool before or after you dye it? Or maybe you don't felt it at all?? Thanks for the inspiration!
