Do you remember Shirley from my Hand Quilting Club and her magnificent quilt? Well last Wednesday she brought a wall hanging that her daughter had made for her. It was so stunning it took my breath away!
Her daughter’s name is Carol Swinden and she makes incredible quilts…check out her website! (Just click on her name.)
The whole quilt is made with little scraps of fabric…. this is what makes the shadows and textures and gradually forms the resulting picture. The stitching makes the trees, branches, posts etc. Look at the shadows in the snow…this is an art!
Just the berries alone are gorgeous…and the frosty snow…sparkly fabric underneath…just beautiful!
Can you see the rows of stitching on the house that form the planks?
The detail on this quilt is extraordinary!!
Look at angle of the porch on the house..the different fabric and angle of the stitches give it the 3-D effects.
I loved this little snow covered tree and the posts are a combination of different fabrics and stitching..lovely!
Make sure you check out her site….oh and did I mention, some of her quilts are for sale. They are truly a work of art! Shirley is so proud of her daughter, as she should be…but then the apple doesn’t fall very far from the tree!
For those of you who were wondering about the name of Shirley’s quilt (at the top of this post)- the pattern is called Stars of a New Day and the designer is Susan H. Garman. Shirley thinks that the pattern is only available to members of The Quilt Show (www.thequiltshow.com). The Quilt Show is produced by Alex Anderson and Ricky Timms.
KAREN from TOOL TIME TUESDAY has done it again!! She is SOOOO clever and thrifty!! You have to go and check out her blog- Oh, heck, just look at what she made for only a few dollars!
It’s a magnetic bulletin board for your sewing room! She has provided easy and clear instructions – even where to to find the supplies! And isn’t it nice! TOO nice for my sewing room!! ;o) So get the hammer out and hurry on down to the hardware store….but first check out Karen’s blog!
Have a marvelous Monday and Happy Quilting!
Ok, that is absolutely gorgeous, now I want to make a pictorial quilt, lol. I am in the mood to do something just for fun, need a brain break.
