It’s a Good Thing!

I finished BIG stitch quilting the houses on my Homespun Houses Quilt…(insert happy dance)…now onto the vine!!

Because BIG stitch quilting  is so visible I always mark my stitching lines.  This makes my hand stitching easier…more uniform, straighter and tidier.  NOW the vine is stitched onto BLACK homespun…how to mark my stitching line on the black fabric?  WELL…I have been dying to use this new Clover Fine white pen that I bought at JoAnn’s last winter!

So I drew my line and NOTHING..no white line!!  Darn…I must have bought a dud...!  BUT WAIT…like magic the white line appeared before my eyes!!  YES, it goes on CLEAR and then magically appears about 10 seconds after applying!!

Check out around the star…this is the white line after I have stitched.  I will spritz with water and it will magically disappear!  LOVE THIS PEN!!

It marks a nice fine line perfect for stitching!!

It’s a GOOD THING…I would put it right ‘up there’ with my Beam N Read light…another Good Thing!  They go together like peanut butter and jam… Making my sandwiching so much sweeter!

Have a magical Monday…and happy stitching!  ~P

  2. I like the big stitch quilting, P.

I love my Sewline marking pencils. They're mechanical so no sharpening, and hardly ever break a lead. They actually erase, if you need to, too. I use the white one all the time.

I love that bean-n-read light, too. I keep it by my bed for a flashlight!

  3. Thanks for the marking tip. I'll have to get myself a Clover Fine White Pen. I always have trouble marking my quilt lines. Mostly, I use a washable blue line, but on dark fabric, it really doesn't show up very well.

  4. Are you sure the line disappears with water? I love it and I use it a lot and have removed it with a warm iron. This is the first time I've ever heard of spritzing it like the blue markers.

  5. I've been using that pen for a few years (thanks to Jo Morton's Little Women Club), and it disappears with heat from the iron. I didn't know it disappeared with water??? Anyway, love your design!

  6. Your big stitching is going to look great. I love this technique. May I ask what thread you're using for the quilting?

  8. I love using my on wool, I love using it for stem, tendril outlines as they are covered and a warm iron takes away the rest.

    Your quilt looks great.

  10. I think that is what I need to do, mark off the stitching. I wanted to do big stitches, then they go smaller and smaller, lol.
