It’s ALL About the Loot!

While I was at Traditional Pastimes Quilt Shop in Calgary, I spotted THIS QUILT!!  It’s called Star Garden and is a Timeless Tradition Pattern designed by Norma Whaley. [If you bought the special issue of Quiltmania Magazine (the one with the Pomegranate Quilt on the cover) than you already own this pattern!!  OR you may own the Geoff’s Mom version.]

Anyways..it stopped me in my tracks!!  Such a beautiful quilt…and the colours were wonderful…the greens are almost a grey and the reds are on the burgundy side.

Check out the close-up photos…

Nice, eh?!  SEW nice that I brought the kit!!

P1240832

It was a BOM kit put out by the shop for their Jan Patek Club… even though it’s not a Jan Patek pattern.  Inside the organza bag were little packages like this one….

…and when the bag is flipped over you can see that they have included this reference sheet with the pattern.  They have proved fabric samples with the corresponding list of what each piece of fabric is to be used for!  This whole kit idea just got better…and a whole lot easier!  Brilliant!  I can’t wait to get started on this beauty!!

At the “Out of Hand Quilt Shop” I found four Quiltmania Magazines…past issues that I don’t have!!  Eureka!!  (These magazines are hard to find and in my opinion GOLD!!)

I also bought a half yard of green wool, a new thimble, straw needles and at the Janome Sewing Centre I bought a new 1/4” Seam Foot (my old one was attacked and destroyed by a t-pin!)

A HUGE Thank You to Lori, a blog follower, who directed me to all of the Calgary Quilt shops that she thought I would like!!  Man, she knows me well!!

I was feeling petty good about my purchases…then I got home to even more Loot!  Yup… I got MAIL…lots of it!!

P1240814

My SIX cones of Glide thread arrived!!  Yippee!!  It’s the thread that I ordered for the mid-arm and is a fraction of the cost of the thread that I have been using!!  Let’s fire up that machine…!!

My Primitive Quilt and Projects Magazine arrived…Love this magazine!!

As usual there was lots of gorgeous eye candy…like this sweet quilt that Laural Lane (Simply Put Plus)  designed!!  You can read all about it on her Blog!

P1240820

I also LOVE this beauty, designed by Christine Schultz of Enchanted Mountain Quilting!!

And who knew that Nancy from Tom Miner Quilts Blog  was a designer?  She did a wonderful job on this star quilt!!  It looks SEW warm and cosy…and love the colours!  It’s called ‘Montana Stars’ and is a winner in my books!!  How exciting to also be on the cover of Primitive Quilts magazine!!

P1240827

I also won this Give Away pattern from Quilted Crow Girls Design Blog!!  THANK YOU ladies!!  I love it!  It’s a cotton and wool pattern which is right up my alley…and I have the green wool to prove it!

P1240817

Geeze, I have got to go away more often!!  :o)

Thanks for stopping by…hope you liked looking at the loot…now it’s time to scoot!!  The Witching hour is drawing near and it’s going to cut into my stitching time I fear!!  ~P as in Poet, who didn’t Know It!:0}}

HAPPY HALLOEEN!!

  2. Love the kit you purchased. At first glance, I thought it was wool, but after you pulled out some of the pieces, I saw that it was fabric. Thanks for the sneak peak at Primitive Quilts, mine hasn't arrived yet. And a very cute pattern from Quilted Crow Girls. Lots of things to keep you busy.

  3. The kit! Oh, Paulette, I am green with envy. How they get Jan Patek out of it makes no sense, though.

  10. Lots of lovely loot there SP. As for the poet bit, I think you have the rhyming just right, but you might want to work on the scanning a bit!
