Finally…Finished Friday!

After over a week of work, my sewing room is finally up and running!!  Yaaaaahhh!

Let me take you on a tour…now keep in mind that this is a small (10’X12’) bedroom turned into a sewing room……it’s certainly no high tech studio!

image There are several things that I love about this ‘new’ Sewing Room…one being all the natural light!  The window is huge..goes right across one wall of the room.  This is to the left…

Copy of P1180746

To the right of the room…my cutting table.  I am planning of hanging my thread rack above this table but I want to spray paint it first and it’s been RAINING!  So that will go up when the weather cooperates!

This table use to belong to my daughter…it’s taller than normal so it is perfect for a cutting table!  I have to keep my eye open for a stool…

Copy of P1180751

This table also has a drawer..perfect for all my rulers and cutters!!  LOVE IT!!

Copy of P1180757

Here’s the entrance…yes, I know, I love hoops!

Copy of P1180752

This dresser was also left behind by my daughter.  She moved to Ottawa and couldn’t take furniture with her!  Perfect for me…and

Copy of P1180753

…my on-going projects…

Copy of P1180764

This dresser is also home for my civil war fabrics.  I’m only showing you ONE drawer or you may think I have a problem…Besides what Hubby doesn’t know, won’t hurt him!!

Copy of P1180767

Here is the home for my GO! Fabric Cutter and dies…it’s not ideal but they do take up a lot of space and will be out of the way here…but still handy!

Copy of P1180768

I have the smaller dies tucked under the ironing table…

 Copy of P1180756

As I said there is tons of natural light and a nice view of my side yard… plus I can watch TV if I want to. Copy of P1180759I FINALLY have a design wall..of sorts!!

Copy of P1180769

I just sewed Warm and Natural Batting onto a dowel..one dowel on top and one on the bottom!  I still need to put end pieces onto the dowels’ ends to prevent the poles from falling!  BUT I am LOVING this!!  These are heavy, wool  blocks and they have no problems ‘sticking’!  And I really like how I can easily wheel the ironing board out of the way so that I can play on the design wall!!  It’s all good!

Copy of P1180770This is a dresser that I ‘found’ at a GS…and the price was right ($30) and  a coat or two of paint later…and she is ready for more of the stash!!  P1180761  I have changed my mind about this little bookshelf.  I’ve decided that I am going to put containers for sewing do-dads here.  I need a do-dad place…

P1180778

And this little table for my lap top isn’t ideal but will do until I find a small desk.  Keep in mind that this isn’t my main computer (she is upstairs waiting for me).P1180794

I do enjoy the way I can wheel around the room on my computer chair!  Having said THAT…I was going to buy an area rug…but now I’m not SEW sure??  I do like to wheel…and I love the way I can keep the floor clean…but a rug would be nice…For now, I think I need to live in the space for awhile and see what’s what!

Now I think I will do a wheelie over to the computer and see if YOU’VE left a comment…I’d love to hear your thoughts…

Have a FUN Friday and Happy Quilting!~P

    Lucky girl!
I really like the quilt on your design wall. The colours are warm and cosy. I'm drooling over that dresser with the drop down opening.

  6. What a lovely, bright room! It's awesome! I think you will really enjoy creating in here. I suggest no rug, just nice slippers. :)

  7. Lovely sewing 'studio'--just goes to show what can be done with a small space. 10 x 12? Gee, I could do that with my room--if only it didn't have to serve as THE spare bedroom! The bed takes up a lot of room--darn! I love all that natural light from your huge window, too. Hope you have many fun happy days working on your delightful projects.

  17. What a wonderful space. When you mentioned the size, I had to think you must feel that it's huge after containing your crafting to the fifth-wheel in the winter months. You've done a lovely job and will enjoy having your own "home". Thanks for the tour.

  18. You did a great job. I think I need to downsize, after seeing your space. I am hanging onto stuff that is not relevant anymore. Thanks for the great photos

  20. Lovely sewing room, P, the colour is beautiful. Mine is about the same size and at first, I had a round braided area rug. But then, I decided to put it downstairs and was planning on getting a nice square rug. I never did. I was so liking the freedom of wheeling around the room. Everything is always in reach, and if some threads fall on the floor, I just Dust Bust them up. Also, the cat's bed is under my sewing table and there is always some cat hair around. So, my advice would be no rug. Since my room faces north, I took the curtains down completely, and now there is plenty of light. You didn't mention where you kept the wool? I think that this is going to be a very happy place to stitch.

  21. Looking good! In my studio, I love the look of my area rug, but if I just had the hardwood, it would be easier to sweep up.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Oh, I LOVE it, Paulette! Applause, applause - you and hubby's hard work will be enjoyed for a long time.

Now go make a mess! LOL

  25. Your sewing room looks very inviting to me - my favorite part is the quilts hanging on the ladder!

    ReplyDelete
  26. Again, you have inspired me. Just a turn of the sewing table and my whole sewing room was transformed! Does the room have a closet? You must have more fabric stashed away somewhere?! Would like to have seen pictures of the old sewing room. You deserve a sewing break!

    ReplyDelete
  27. Your sewing room looks adorable and very user friendly. I didn't see a lot of fabric...do you have a stash in the closet or something. Love your ironing table. I will have to show this to hubby. Thanks for sharing and happy sewing!

  28. Well as the saying goes, it's not the size but how you use it!...this is perfection for a small space.
Love it and wish for something as large someday!
Amazing what paint can do isn't it?

  29. It looks wonderful and such a beautiful view to rest you eyes and all finished in a week! My hat's off to you!!!

    ReplyDelete
  30. Very nicely organized. My question is, how long will it remain this neat?

    ReplyDelete
  31. It's wonderful, Paulette! I wish we were as far along with mine - just at the baseboard stage. LOVE the hanging wooden ladder with quilts - thanks! I wouldn't go with the rug, it is sew easy to sweep/swiffer as it is now.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Love your room, the window is perfect! I might just love the quilt on the wall a little bit too... Have fun with it all!

    ReplyDelete
  33. Your space is wonderful! You are going to have so much fun. Enjoy it to the fullest. You did a great job putting it all together.

    ReplyDelete
  34. your room is beuatiful and organized-unlike mine-which just has too much stuff crammed everywhere-lol enjoy your new space

    ReplyDelete
  35. Awesome sewing room! And it will be such a joy to create in this new space. Don't do the rug, it will just be a "thread magnet" and will frustrate your ability to "wheel around"
I put cork in my Studio and it is wonderful to clean up, just a quick vac and its done

    ReplyDelete
  36. Great room, Paulette. It is so neat and tidy--unlike mine. I too was looking for how you store your wool. Let's see.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Awesome, Paulette!

Don't you find that now being neat and organized, you're more creative and want to be in there sewing up a storm? I just love the eclectic feel to the room too!

    Thanks for sharing!

  38. Thanks for the tour, I love seeing other people's sewing space. I think you have done a great job of maximising the area to its full potential. Tell your DH that we are lined up drooling over your ironing board/storage if he ever wants to go into business manufacturing them! dont go the rug, you will be away in RV for winter and on "wheels" you will speed through your UFOs and wish list! Bring on the school house block project!

    ReplyDelete
  39. Oh I love it! Who needs a "hi tech" sewing room when you have this? I can see lots of inspiration and creativity going on in here.

    :) Happy Sewing!!!

  40. You have a very nice sewing studio. You have it so organized and neat. I love the color on the walls. You have great lighting! I can go on and on; but really you do have a great space to "Create"! Enjoy!

    ReplyDelete
  41. The room looks great and that's a neat way to store your hoops! Be careful making wheelies, don't want you to get hurt!! :-)

    ReplyDelete
  42. I love your space , you have it well organized and a place for everything ,and the natural light is a huge plus !

    ReplyDelete
  43. Nicely done, I like how you organized the space and can enjoy the view out the window while sewing.

Your Autumn piece is lovely now to finish it up for the season to come.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Lovely, lovely space. I know you will enjoy using it. Keep the creative juices flowing.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Paulette, it's perfect. My room is about the same size, and I also have a bed in here - you've got lots of space! Great fix for a design wall. You're going to have LOTS of happy hours in there!

    ReplyDelete
  46. I really like your ironing station where you can store things under it and move it. I think I need to incorporate something like that into my sewing room. Enjoy your new space.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Perfecto! I love the window and the light. I am going to have to figure out something for my ironing board! It looks soooooo clean! and where did you say you were hiding all your stash?????

    ReplyDelete
  48. Love it, Paulette!!:) You're way ahead of me- will probably take me all summer to get mine finished! Love the ironing board your hubby made- perfect!!:) How tall is your table for cutting your fabric? I'm on the short side so I need to figure that out yet. I still like cutting on the floor but that's going to be a problem one of these days.:) Your room looks like a wonderful place to play in!:) Have a great weekend!

  49. I think you've done a remarkably good job arranging everything. The things you use the most are at your fingertips. And living with it before you decide to get a rug or not is a good idea - sometimes I decide I have to have something only to find that it wasn't really necessary at all. I love your warm and natural batting as your design wall. I may have to copy that with the curtain rods. blessings, marlene

  50. This room is great. I wish mine looked half that good but for now it is a bedroomm with two slanted walls so I can't have a design wall. And storage is a real problem because I don't have a lot of full wall space. I would love to have your room. Enjoy it, I am sure you will.

    ReplyDelete
  51. What a wonderful room to create and dream in! I do like your storage drawers, but I would think you have W-A-Y more that you are showing here, I've enjoyed every shopping bundle you have shared for years, lol! Such a pretty view too, I'm so happy for you ~
    :-}pokey

  52. What a great room! It would be such a pleasure to work there! Don't get dizzy wheeling around on your chair.

    ReplyDelete
  53. What a wonderful room. love all of the light. I recommend no rug. I have hardwood floors and they easily clean up with a quick swiffer, or broom.

    ReplyDelete
  54. SweetP, Wow, I'm impressed. Nice little studio. Don't you love it when you do all that all hard work and it turns out just right? Now show us where ALL your stash is. Is that in the second extra bedroom? Knock that wall down! LOL!

    ReplyDelete
  55. It looks fabulous. I am so envious.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Your room is great. You've packed a lot into that space. I love that you laminated the floor and can just wheel around to where you want to be.
    Very cool.
    xx, Carol

  57. Lovely job Paulette. I like the colour and the light. I wonder if you might want a rug in the winter? That is if you don't go south.
Where have you hidden the rest of the fabric?? LOL.

  58. Great set-up with lots of storage tips for me. My sewing room is full of packing boxes which will be a while before I can get at them.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Your new sewing room is perfect, I think we are always changing them, I know I always am with mine at least. I love your cutting table. I am tall and my back was always killing me, so I had my husband put mine up on blocks, not pretty but it works for now. Enjoy your new room!

    ReplyDelete
  60. Great room! Your ironing station is inspiring me - I think that may be a next project here...

    ReplyDelete
  61. Oh My! Design wall, cutting table on wheels, TV, computer, lots of storage places, all that light, ladder to hang quilts on (which I love) and a chair on wheels. I vote no rug for now. Looks like a little bit of heaven to me.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Isn't it fun to get all organized in a new space? Just kind of clears the "clutter" in the mind and allows all sorts of fun things to come forward. Ingenious design wall! Happy sewing!

    ReplyDelete
  63. What a great new place to sew. Have you considered placing a board on the cross-supports underneath your cutting table to make a shelf and get your supplies off the floor? Should be easy enough and with some white paint would tie right in.

  64. Love your sewing room. I have gathered info from it as you know that I will be leaving my big space for a smaller sewing room. Will call on you when I am there. I love your arrangement. Happy Quilting.

  65. You lucky duck! What a wonderful area to create to your hearts content.

  66. A really nice sewing room. And it's good you took pictures so you can remember how spiffy & neat it all was before you really started using it. Somehow stuff just piles up when you're not looking when projects are being worked on.

  67. Good gracious, Paulette, 71 comments? Just have to say I have serious quilt room envy since I have to haul out the machine and set it up on the dining room table and then put it all away at dinnertime!

  68. Great use of space, love the ladder on wall...ironing station....cutting area. Happy quilting.

  69. Paulette, your sewing studio is gorgeous! My sewing room is slightly smaller at 10x11 but it's amazing how functional it can be. Your $30 garage sale find that you painted white is one of my favorites!
