Man, Granny sure gets around! Everywhere I look, I see her…This morning she is over at ‘As Sweet As Cinnamon Blog’ looking VERY pretty!! On Wednesday, she was over at ‘The Painted Quilt’…making herself at home and looking lovely laying on Kaaren’s guest bed! She will NEVER get rid of her!
When I was at the Calico Horse in March, this Granny was hanging on the walls…
Yup, she mesmerized me!! Both Siena and I wanted her to visit our homes! So of course we bought the fabric…Well the fabric is waiting…and waiting…for our Granny’s to take shape!
Then Granny got famous and was on the cover of American Patchwork and Quilting…
…yup, a full lay out spread!! Just look at Granny work the goods!
If you want Granny to come to your house (and I know you do!), then go over to ‘Blue Elephant Stitches’ for a full tutorial. OR pull out your copy of APQ (Oct. 2010). I think there is a little Granny in all of us…don’t you?!
Have a Fun Friday and Happy Quilting!~P
PS….Just a reminder that TOMORROW is our Christmas Quilt-A-Long!! Be there or be square!…Or make that ‘Be there and Bring a Square..or two’!! We are going to have FUN!!
I have just started cutting the white squares for my Granny, but "she" will be staying at my sister's house. I found the link through Kaaren and knew I have to make a granny too.
ReplyDeleteI love your testamonial to the Granny Quilts! And yes, Granny will be coming to my house soon! See you tomorrow!
ReplyDeleteI want to make one too! I never made a Granny Square afghan but maybe a quilt version.
ReplyDeleteI just love the Granny Quilts! I bet you have to be neat with your seams as I don't think those blocks are too forgiving if you're out!
ReplyDeleteAnd I'll be bringing my blocks to play with tomorrow - see ya then!
Yes, Granny is at my house, too. I've finished the blocks and now have to sew on the sashing. I like Kaaren's design with the red cornerstones and may decide on that finish, but with just the white sashing, it really makes the blocks pop out. Almost like they are floating. Decisions, decisions. An orange print is the centre on all my blocks and I would use that as the cornerstones. See you tomorrow, I'll be bringing a square.
ReplyDeleteI do love that pattern, has a nice look to it and can be done in so many color combinations.

Hey, that's a cool centerfold! And a neat cover! I might enjoy that magazine. Do they ever cover golfing, or fishing, or hiking?
ReplyDeleteI like that granny quilt and I do want to make one.
ReplyDeleteGreat way to use up some scraps! Another quilt on my "to do" list.
