A few of us gals here in the Cowichan Valley have decided to work on THIS QUILT, “Winter Solstice”! We are going to approach it as a Block of the Month…you know make a block or two each month! We will help cheer each other on…and maybe, just maybe… this quilt will reach completion!!
She IS a beauty…I can see her made in Civil War or wonderful Homespuns…or totally scrappy!! AND some of us have decided to add wool applique to certain blocks…can you see it? Those sweet lambs NEED wool!
It looks like a fairly easy quilt…great instructions with lots of pictures…and we would take it slow…but not TOO slow! We also thought we would tackle the hard parts first…get them out of the way. So first up will be that big red barn and the house below! The rest of the quilt will be gravy!
SEW…care to join us?
You can find the pattern in the book ‘Life in the Country’ by Country Threads! Yes, it’s an oldie but a goodie! It’s probably already sitting on your bookshelf gathering dust…
The more the merrier…just sayin’…
Give it some thought, you won’t be sorry!! We start this month!
HAPPY CANADA DAY!! I am so happy and proud to be a Canadian!
Have a terrific Tuesday and Happy Stitching!~P

You wait until I have already made the quilt to start a group thing! I am sure it will be a fun project to work on with others. Do you have fabrics selected?

I was happily suprised when I saw the book and realized that I have that one. So I am in civil war and homespuns with a little wool for accent. I can't resist. I am already doing Jan Patek's BOM so don't know how fast I will be but I'll try to keep up. Oh and happy Canada Day to you. We are looking forward to the 4th of July on Friday and a nice long weekend.
ReplyDeleteIt's a fabulous quilt! I'll be cheering you on and watching all the progress.:)
ReplyDeleteHappy Canada Day! I love that quilt. I may not be able to sew along at the same time with you folks, but I will watch you with much interest and maybe move along at my own pace. Yes, I just ordered the book too, but still have my neighbourhoods quilt to finish.

ReplyDeleteOops--thank goodness it is easy to cancel an order with Amazon!!! All of a sudden I thought--I wonder if that book was one of the ones I bought from a lady selling all her quilting stuff. Yep, there it was, right on my shelf!! I'm ready, now to go fabric shopping!
ReplyDeletelooks an interesting quilt to do, will drop into Amazon and see if they have the book
