Let’s Get Organized…!

Are you like me?

You want to make a project out of wool but you have NO IDEA what wool is in each bin?…And I confess..I have got several bins..and NO I AM NOT COUNTING…just can’t GO there!! P1180427

Hey, that red would be perfect for Santa’s hat…BUT where did I put it??P1070733

And where DID I PUT that piece of off white wool??  I NEED that white wool!!!  See where I’m coming from?  Maddening, isn’t it!

P1070734OR…perhaps YOU are more like Marilyn?  I found Marilyn on You Tube and she has got an organizing method that will blow your wool socks right off!!  Check her out…HERE!

SEW…did you visit her…?  Isn’t she NICE?  Yup…someday SOON I’m going to be just like Marilyn…and organize my wool…and MAYBE if my wool is organized, the ‘nice part’ will follow! :o)))  Hey…I said maybe…don’t expect miracles!

Have a FUN Friday and Happy Quilting!~P

  1. Good to know. That lady is so cute and cheerful. I have to have mine out where I can see it. I built the east wing of the Dallas Ikea by buying shelves there! Thanks for sharing!

    Cheery wave!

  5. Did you read the last Fabric Therapy post? And the links to previous posts she did on organization?

I think she could be the fabric organizer of the year nominee.

  6. Just wish that I had enough wool to worry about organizing it. You've got a beautiful selection of wools. Working on a Maggie Bonanomi kit right now but won't have any leftover wool from it. Sew much fun!

  8. Being organized is over rated! You need to learn to just grab whatever comes out and run with that. Quilt as "catch can" could be a good theme. You are creative, and can always come up with some great ideas for any project you have in mind. With that as a starting point, you can't lose, no matter what.

  9. I have a 9 hole cubbie with the pull out fabric boxes, I bought the boxes in different colors, so no hunting, the reds are in the red box, blue in blue box, etc. I just grab the box, take it to my cutting table and audition what I want then put the box away--no mess. The cubbies, come in 9 hole or 6 hole. I have the 6 hole one sitting sideways on top of the 9 hole one, which has 3 boxes and the other 3 holes are for my quilting books. They are available at Target or Fred Myers.

  10. lol! My favorite part of the video is at 1:08 when a cat's tail zooms past in the lower left corner of the video... ;-) I have my wool folded and stacked on bookshelves... and also some folded in one of those hanging sweater organizers (in a closet)... and rolling wool and tucking in baskets and crocks is another one... lol! I just luvs me woolies!

  11. I store mine by color in clear plastic bins so I can see through to the wool inside. But Marilyn's idea of taking it one step further by cutting samples of what is in that particular bin is super.

I'm going to give it a go but it might take me a while. I'm embarrassed to say how many bins I have. *sigh*

Thanks for sharing the top, Paulette.

  12. I have all of my wool(which is quite a bit now) in $$-store bins that have an open waffle-weave, so the air can circulate through it. Each color of wool is in a separate bin, then all stored in the 9-cubby wood bins that come from Target. I can easily see any color I need to use in a project. (I showed it in an earlier post on my blog awhile back). Easy peasy!
