A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words…

…which means I haven’t got anything to say!   Michelle was right, Hollyhills Quilt Shoppe doesn’t allow photos!  So all I can say is the shop is lovely…gorgeous in fact… but without pictures that doesn’t help you!  Soo…here’s what you get…the front door…

Go ahead peek into the window…

P1110144

Wish I could open the front door and let you in…but I can’t..

P1110145

So that ends the tour of Hollyhills Quilt Shoppe!  I can hear the disappointed groans from here…but REALLY it’s NOT MY FAULT!  I tried…BUT don’t despair…we will be visiting TONS of shops who will  OPEN their doors to cameras and with wild abandon…shops like..The Cotton Ball, The Quilter’s Coop, Temecula Quilt Co., The Country Loft, The Christmas Goose Quilt Shop…just to name a few.  They encourage and welcome the camera toting Quilter!!  After all we are bringing them FREE advertising and promoting their shops.  In the past I  have had bloggers thank me for telling them about certain shops!

Let me show you something that I CAN take a picture of… Summertime by Primitive Gathers.  LOVE the colours in these little blocks.  I know, I know….I only have  1 1/2 blocks finished…believe me I am no Karen (Log Cabin Quilter). P1110147 I had to chuckle…Karen’s been working on a stunning, HUGE appliqued quilt for the past 3 days and she was complaining that she still isn’t finished…Well I have news for her…it would take me 3 years and I still wouldn’t have it finished!! haha

See my cute little I Pod…green of course!!  My daughters gave it to me three years ago as a retirement gift and it’s engraved on the back.  Love it…Hayley downloaded more songs onto it over the holidays…so I’m grooving while I stitch…(I think I just dated myself!!:o)

Last night we made it to Canyonville, OR and took the shuttle bus to the Casino for dinner…yikes!!  I’m not use to cigarette smoke in buildings.  In B.C. you can’t even smoke outside in parks or on beaches!!

THANK YOU FOR ALL YOUR COMMENTS yesterday…sorry I wasn’t able to reply but the wifi at the RV park was so slowwwwwww….  I hope the wifi will be better at our next stop!

NoteCalifornia, here we come…NoteOK, I’ll spare you the singing…but today we are on our way to Corning, CA….yippee…

Have a wonderful NEW YEARS EVE Party smileand all the Best in 2011..and happy quilting!~P

  2. What you could show was cute! I'm not sure I understand why they don't allow photos but it's their decision. Your applique is looking great - I find it a very slow process for me and can't imagine doing a regular sized quilt by hand. Happy New Year!

  3. I had a feeling Hollyhill Quilts wouldn't let you take pictures. It's such a shame! What's the BIG secret behind those beautiful doors? ;-)

Your project is coming along nicely - listening to your favorite tunes, stitching and riding along to your next fun stop = BLISS. teehee!

  5. Paulette - thanks for sharing your adventures with us left at home. I am assuming you don't get car sick or you wouldn't be making such good progress. I wish I could find a way to stitch in the car while we travel. If you have found any magic, please let me know.

    Hugs - Marie

  6. Well the peek through the window was lovely so we'll be thankful for what you could get and allow the magic and mystery to remain :0)

Your blocks look fabbie and I also envy you being able to stitch while travelling - let me tell you it wouldn't just be your iPod that was green by the time we reached our destination if I was travelling with you lol.

Have fun wheeling to your next destination - travel safe xxxxx

  7. Yes it was a shame that they would not allow pictures inside. What have they got to hide? Free advertising does not appeal to them? Oh well can't wait to see what's next. Your DH sure is a swell guy to stop at all these shops.
Happy New year to the both of you!
    Where is our final detination?

  9. Okay, Smarty Pants! The Christmas quilt inside part is done. I don't have border fabric so I am stalled. I know you are busy seeing the sights along the way so I will give you some leeway on your blocks. LOL!

  10. I hope you were able to get in and they weren't closed when you were there. Trust me ladies, it is a GREAT shop and they are all so friendly. Brian is a hoot and if you don't follow their blog, you should. It can be found by going to their website of http://hollyhillquilts.com/ On the blog, there are lots of pictures.

Not sure if you will be coming through Central Oregon on your trip, but my friends shop, Sew Many Quilts is another great shop and Gail and Sharron let you take photos...I didn't know that when I was there for the Sisters Quilt show and didn't take any but Lori from Humble Quilts (??) did. Enjoy your trip.

  14. Sad that the quilt shop wouldn't let you take photos. Tells me they don't know the power of bloggers...lol! Love the blocks you're working on!

  15. I found a Shop that would let you take a picture when I was in Kansas - Shop Hopping last October. I only got to go to a couple shops and wanted to take a picture of their Shop Hop Quilt. They were selling the layout pattern for $8 if I remember right. We can't or won't "copy" all their ideas and why they limit their exposure, is a mystery to me.

  16. So sorry you couldn't take pictures at Hollyhill. It did look like a very nice place! But, you tried and we appreciate that!:) I love the pics of you traveling just as much! I stayed in Centralia one time- my niece lived there for a while. That was like 7 years ago.:) Love your 5th wheel!! That would be mighty comfortable to travel in. Your blocks are beautiful!! Very nice job!! Have a great time and we'll watch for future pictures!!:)
Have FUN and HAPPY NEW YEARS!!!:)

  17. Safe journey. Love your applique blocks hope the weather is sunny and warm. Happy New Years.

  18. Possibly the "no photos" rule is because of copyright - if you show the inside of the shop then you are showing finished quilts and other projects, and the makers may not want their projects out there for the world to see......and copy. Must say, I am with the shop owners and project makers on that.

  21. Oh I do love wool! We ate at a casino a couple of times last summer and found the cigarette smoke to be horrible too. It really spoils your meal. blessings, marlene

  22. Happy New Year, P. Your wool blocks look great and i think you have done great in 3 days! I don't understand shops that won't allow pics either. You are right, it is free PR for them. I certainly can't copy anything from a pic.

  23. Happy New Year Paulette!(and Rick!) Glad your trip is going smoothly so far..love the "Summertime" wool project by Primitive Gatherings that you are working on while traveling. Your new rig looks SO comfortable & is going to be such a treat to stay in at the Sands...no more walking to the shower house!(& no more danger of those pesky "shower lurkers" LOL!) Pretty fine!
We start on our 6 month down & across the USA & across Canada adventure in a few weeks! Looking forward to it and getting excited!

  27. I rarely write remarks, but i did a few searching and wound up here "A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words...".

And I do have a couple of questions for you if you tend
not to mind. Is it only me or does it appear like a few of
the comments come across like written by brain dead people?
:-P And, if you are writing at additional online sites, I'd like to keep up with everything new you have to post. Could you list of all of all your social pages like your Facebook page, twitter feed, or linkedin profile?
