HO HO…NOOooooooooo!

No Christmas Parties for me last night…I was busy participating in the Friday Night Sew-In with Heidi and Bobbi and 69 other participants!  NOW that’s what I call a party!!

I got tons done…maybe that’s because there was absolutely NOTHING on TV last night…so I cranked up the Christmas music and sewed and sang…come to think of it, Rylie (my right-hand dog) didn’t hang out in the sewing room  like she usually does…wonder why?  Do you think it was my singing?…nahhh…

SEW…I got the binding all hand stitched down on two table toppers and the other two are ready to go…P1110007

I was feeling very satisfied with what I had accomplished until I read Karen’s blog (Log Cabin Quilts) this morning!  I swear she is Superman’s equal…Super-Sewer!!  If you follow Karen (and you should!!) then you know she can appliqué faster than a speeding bullet, she can whip up not ONE but TWO penny rugs in one night and her work is Kryptonite (comparable to gold)!  She is such an inspiration!  But enough about her…ha ha ha!

Look at what came in yesterday’s mail!!  Just the other day I watched Krista (PoppyPrint) make these…and NOW I have one of my very own!!  Pretty enough to frame…in fact I think I will do just that!!  SEW sweet!!  Thanks so much, Krista!!

Well today is the DAY that I have been dreading…I am going to actually crack open the Christmas Cupboard!!  Yup…it’s time…It’s not that I lack the Christmas Spirit, it’s just that…it’s no longer fun…it’s work to get the tree up!  Maybe if I crank up the Christmas music and pour some eggnog …oh and throw in some butter tarts and shortbread…the job will get done!!  Anyone else out there feeling this way?  Ho HO ….OOOOOOOOooooohhhhhhhh…get me out of here!

Have a Super Saturday and Happy Quilting!~P

  1. I am slowly decorating, it is a pain sometimes, especially with my rib, hard to pull boxes down. It would be easier if my husband would store things in one spot, lol.

Well done on your finishes too.

  4. Denny's just gone out to trim up the Christmas Tree to bring in and get set up! I feel the same - UGGGH! How many years have we decorated anyways??? And he wanted everything up earlier this year - I think he's getting more of the Christmas Spirit and me less over the years. With two family birthdays before the big day, I'm a little busy! BUT I am going to sew today!

Have fun today - I hope we'll get our tree all decked out, too.

  6. Ummmmm - yep, still putting off the Christmas tree - waiting till the 12 days before but really should put it up tomorrow. Hmmmmm, it used to be a job I loved but over the years my enthusiasm has evaporated (probably cos I have a rosy vision of a chirpy family all lovingly and harmoniously trimming the tree together which is in actual fact a crazy stressful "why won't these blasted lights work" or "flippin heck the tree is toppling over again" affair.

Well done on your makes :0)

  7. I'm with you. It's not much fun decorating anymore but my family will be getting together here for Christmas and they expect to have all the trimmings, including the ornaments that they made over the years. I think the eggnog and shortbread will help. And maybe a mincemeat tart or three. Your table toppers are lovely and I really love the blue fabric in the border.

  8. Good luck on your decorating plans. I also need to get going on that same subject. I have my white trees in place, but only one ornament is actually hanging.

  10. Decorating is not nearly as much fun as it was when the kids were home. :( Not that I want them home again, I'm just sayin'. I finished this morning and breathed a sigh of relief. Until the taking down! blessings, marlene

  11. I, too, feel the way you do, Paulette. I really have been pushing myself this year and have done little bits of decorating here and there. Hubby doesn't help with this and it is all me...I am doing what makes me happy this year and nothing more! Great finishes for FNSI!!

  13. Seems to me if you yourself sewed any faster you'd be orbiting somewhere! Those table whatsits look great!

I saw a lovely wall-hanging here last week which IMMEDIATELY brought you to my mind!! It had an appliqué of a snowman on the left, and then embroidered on the right hand side were the words: 'Snowmen fall from Heaven unassembled.'

Isn't that lovely? Dad wants it for Christmas!!

  16. Paulette, you got a ton accomplished! All those bindings! I feel like the sooner I get the decorations up, the sooner I'm done! After I get going, it's not so bad. It's the getting going that's the hardest! Have fun decorating today!

  17. I can relate to the work part of a tree...we put one up, took it down and did it to a second. This one is good, but I'm tired.

    Have a Merry Christmas!

  18. Sending you some Christmas spirit - express mail - can't send too much though, it is still in short supply in this house. But there's still time...

  20. the decorating is a lot of work..we all do it though!..fun or not...I am sure you made it fun!!..no tree at our house this year..just a few paltry items!

  21. Yep, I've been feeling the same way Paulette--put up very few decorations this year as we are leaving for warmer country next Tuesday. I take a little tree with me in the motorhome, though.

  22. Oh Ya! We put up our tree and outside lights today...and I have been secretly dreading it all week! Well it is not a secret anymore....sadly I was one cranky Mamma today, my poor hubby and kiddies....I just find the whole thing very stressful. I am happy with Christmas placemats and the brass bell I had as a child! Yikes I need a serious Holiday infusion!

  23. Good for you on getting the bindings done! I know what you mean about Karen, she is AMAZING. Let's go to her house and steal her vitamins.

Lovely card - have fun decorating, I'm NOT READY, I don't want to do it - maybe I won't - I'll let my boys do it!

  25. Last year I was Mrs. Scrooge! This year one of my daughters drug up some of the decorations so we could put up a few and then promised to come back after Christmas and put them all away. She's the best! By the way, your bindings look great. My Friday night sewing consisted of making hotpads (9 more to make 34) to put in a boutique this week.
