Eye Candy of a Different Sort…

Who has that “I ate the WHOLE thing” feeling?  I know I sure did…even after a long hike!

Yesterday we hiked the ‘hills’ that run along the Desert Cities in the Coachella Valley…they run from Palm Springs right out to Indio and LaQuinta.  The hills in the pictures are behind Palm Desert.

This type of terrain is the exact opposite to the lush rain forests of home (West Coast Canada) and I love it!  The trails traverse back and forth as you slowly zigzag up the mountains and you often find that you have not only traversed up one mountain but that you are now on the mountain out in the distance!  Now how did that happen?

I also get a dizzy feeling if I look down…where your stomach does a flip-flop…

You can see a glimpse of Palm Desert in the distance…I LOVE the desert skies out here…always that brilliant blue!

All in all, we had a great day!  Certainly different from the Christmas Days of past!  We missed our kids…but after phone chats with them we felt much better! The rest of the day was spent with my audio book and stitching…a very nice day!

I wiled away the afternoon big Stitch quilting on the Jan Patek Moda Sew Along Quilt….and listened to a little of Nicholas Sparks audio book, “The Longest Ride”…VERY good with a little twist at the end…a good kind of twist!  Oh man…I just gave away the WHOLE story!!

And when my arthritic stitching finger got sore, I switched to this…haha….I HAD to get to THAT ending!

So Christmas is over for yet another year!  Is it just me or are the Christmases coming faster and faster, with shorter periods in between?  Christmas 2015 will be here before we know it!  Only 364 days of stitching left until the BIG day!  And yes, I’m on it…how about you?!

Have a FUN Friday…It’s Boxing Day and I am VENTURING OUT!!  (In Canada, Boxing Day is HUGE…like Black Friday down here!  I will let you know how it compares!)…Oh…and Happy Stitching!!~P

  1. I'm with you, I love the contrast between the Northwest and the desert. It's great to have blue skies in December, too. Christmas was a bit lonely for us without family, but it's only one day.

  3. We actually had a very white Christmas! Loved that but sure don't enjoy driving it in anymore. I do miss those rolling golden hills of California sometimes tho.

  5. That hike looks way too hot for me. I like shade when hiking. Hope Santa was good to you. It was a "woolie" Christmas for me.

  8. That looks like a fun place to hike, would be nice for biking except it is too steep for me, lol. Love the projects you are working on. I really need to get my room cleaned and start getting mine ready to do.
