Playtime!

Whenever I start a project, I need to have a tidy sewing room...I NEED to know where my rotary cutters are, where my glue is, where my scissors are and so forth!  It makes the 'job' SEW much nicer and easier!  Like putting together two more blocks to "Where the Cows Come Home" by Cottage at Cardiff Farms!  How can two such pretty blocks...two such small, pretty blocks...

...create such a mess?

YIKES!!

If you look, you can see that it is an organized mess! haha...as you enter you will step over my Japanese/Diamond Textile fabrics....then you will hit my pile of red wool, beige wool, green wool and so forth...yup...I do know where everything is at!

and in that mess...I found these two beauties!

Two rogue blocks from when I experimented with my Japanese fabrics...I must make more of those!

Now for the clean up...!!  Whew!

I can breathe easy and let a new day begin....YUP...it's PLAYTIME!!

How about you?....do you work in chaos...or organized chaos ;o)?

Have a terrific Tuesday and Happy Stitching!~P

  1. The pre-clean up photo looks a bit like my sewing room. Well, maybe more than a bit. But I do know where my rotary cutter and ruler are and that sort of thing.

  2. I'm the same way! I love it when cleaning up I find fat quarters that I forgot about and fun stuff like that, but I've never found completed blocks...yet! Can't wait for you to start quilting that beauty on the frame.

  3. Yes, it always get to a point where I can't function until I clean. The bad part is remembering where I put everything when I tidying up!

  4. I have no choice as my sewing room is so very small. If I let it get too messy then I can't even move my chair enough to get to the sewing machine! Sometimes the countertops get a bit chaotic, but I do work better when it's fairly tidy. Maybe I've trained myself to by now.:)

  5. I love to work in a clean, clutter free environment. Unfortunately that rarely happens, so I adjust. I'm with Audrey, I think I have trained myself to live with it and just create!

  6. I work within controlled Chaos, to a point, and then I reach a point when it's time to tidy up. With the sewing I've been doing lately, it's now just about time to straighten things up, maybe over the weekend.

  7. I think I'm the odd man out here because I have to have my sewing room clean. Believe it or not, I don't have OCD but it drives me crazy to work in a messy room and have to hunt for things. One of the things that helps immensely in keeping things clean is a big 24 inch wide by 6 inch tall plastic storage bin (meant for storing things under the bed) that I keep on the end of my cutting table. When I'm done cutting each fabric I fold it and put it in the bin. It's large enough that I can keep like fabrics or like colors together and then when the bin gets full, I just put it away in my permanent fabric cabinets.

  8. if only I had a sewing room but i sew in the kitchen so have to tidy away all the time, that does not mean it is not a mess when I am actually sewing! Do have 2 spare bedrooms both full of stitchy stuff but too cold to sew in them and the light is not so good

  9. Whew! Thank you for showing the precleanup sewing room. That's how mine looks quite often. I pull everything out to work on a project......then start another project......then another. Before I can really clean up I have to finish all those started projects! Right now I just have to put the borders on my 30's quilt and I can begin the cleanup. But you know what happens then.....more projects and mess again.

  10. I'm the same way, I can't work in a lot of clutter. The way I manage is that I make myself clean up just for 5 minutes each day. Believe it or not, that helps a lot and it goes by pretty quick
