I haven't got any sewing to show you. I am hand stitching binding down...and as satisfying as that can be...it's not that exciting to blog about! It's a BIG quilt...and it's taking time! Two sides done...two more to go! Ahhh yes, nothing like sewing binding on a huge quilt in hot, hot weather! I took my antique ironing board down...and rigged up a table top for the quilt to rest on. Much better than on my lap! It is sitting in my family room, all set up, so that whenever I get an extra moment, I put can put in a stitch here and a stitch there and it will all add up! And of course I have my June goals to work on! They are not going well...but that's for another day!
Let me show you a Garage Sale find...from last weekend! I'm not sure WHAT it is?? BUT it has potential! It's some kind heavy rod iron hanger...if I had to guess, I think it was for a house sign. I think the house numbers went in the big V. Now it is old, numbers are gone, it's rusty and wonderful! Love the roses on each side....
Perfect to hang a quilt....
Nope...that quilt was too light! Let's try something else!
Perfect! Don't you love finding different ways to hang quilts!
SCORE!!
Have a sunny (but not too hot) Sunday...and Happy Stitching!~P
Sorry about the heat--We are having the same problem. I even had to break down and buy a window a/c unit for my sewing room. I would have rather spent the money on fabric!
ReplyDeleteDon't you just love it when you can recycle something to a new life. Your hanger is really cute.
ReplyDeleteYou are so creative! XO
DeleteYou have found a nice rack; just take care it does not leave a rust stain on your quilt. It is hard to get rid of rust stains on craft items.

Recycle, reuse, renew! Great reuse!
ReplyDeleteLove your find! I would not have thought of that wonderful use! Now for the heat..... I didn't know what 32C was to F and Siri gave me the answer! Afraid we haven't seen anything that low for awhile. We even have clouds today keeping it very sticky! Have a nice Sunday. Hugs
ReplyDelete32! Ugh. Plus, I don't know that many people on the Island have air conditioning. It's freezing here today. But I know the hot weather is coming... stay cool!
ReplyDeleteOoh love your "new" hanger :) You might try flipping it upside down - then you could see you sweet little quilt and the lovely roses!
ReplyDeleteOur a/c is on and has been for weeks. It was 99F in Salem yesterday, 94F at my house (I'm higher elevation). Today is better as there is cloud cover. I'm already ready for summer to be over, hate heat.
ReplyDeleteHi Paulette! Sorry to reply here (my email is wonky today) but I like it flipped - I think you can see the quilt better and the hanger acts like a frame. Although it's pretty either way! Thank you for the photos!!
ReplyDeleteScore for sure. It's a perfect reuse for something interesting. I love your innovated solution for binding and staying cool.
ReplyDeleteA good score for sure. I haven't been to a garage sale in several years. When I see all the great stuff people find, I think I should. But I am paring down and not adding to stuff in the house.
ReplyDeleteThat makes a beautiful quilt hanger, love how it looks.

A great find, gorgeous quilts you have displayed !
ReplyDeleteGreat find and I love the patina! I wonder if there is a way to hang your quilts from the bottom edge so that those flowers and leaves sit on the top edge of the quilt.
ReplyDeleteThat looks really cute! We are having that same heat wave.
ReplyDeleteLove your find. I don't like large quilts because it seems it takes forever. We are having a cool day today usually it is steaming hot.
