This quilt has been in my UFO tub for SIX or SEVEN YEARS…(or maybe longer..)!! What a good feeling it is to finally have it quilted and FINISHED!! (insert a happy dance!!)
My Mid Arm was giving me grief while quilting this…(the needle thread kept fraying and breaking…SEW frustrating!!) It felt like this quilt top was punishing me for making it wait so long to reach completion!…As a result the quilting isn’t great but it’s done! I turned the quilt length wise on the quilting frame as I wanted the leaf quilting to go up the quilt.
I bet you can see lots of fabrics from years ago…you probably have some in your stash! :o)
This quilt just evolved after I bought the border print…After making the ‘ladders’ I felt it needed something else, so I added flowers.
I hand stitched the yo-yos onto the flower middles after I sewed the binding on.
After all is said and done…I’m still loving this quilt!
Another one bites the dust…FINALLY! Such a good feeling!!
How is your UFO busting going? Come on… you can do it!
Happy stitching!~P
Awesome! You did a wonderful job on that. I love it.
ReplyDeleteIt's beautiful! I love floral quilts and the colors of this quilt is just so inviting. :)
ReplyDeleteThe applique makes this quilt very special. I like how it is predominately on one side of the quilt. Good finish.
ReplyDeleteYup, it's a keeper. I love "coin" style quilts anyway, but adding the applique over top just make it so much more interesting and enjoyable.
ReplyDeleteAnd keep at it with the mid-arm. Every machine, frame, and thread has its own idiosyncrasies, but the only way to figure those out is to keep ploughing through. For example, my setup stopped punishing me with thread breakages when I stopped trying to race through my stitching, stretched the fabric a little less tightly between the rollers, and switched to using polyester thread rather than cotton. Good luck!
Another gorgeous quilt. Keep 'em coming. I can't get enough of looking at someone else's finished UFOs. If I had a long-arm, or mid-arm, machine, I could probably finish the 20 or so, UFOs in my stack. I have plenty of little/doll-sized quilts as well. Keep saying I will hand-quilt them, but so far, it's a no go.
ReplyDeleteI love this quilt too. Beautiful and cozy.
ReplyDeleteI like it too. I can see the pattern line now..."Sweet P's Quilts"
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful quilt! Congratulations on getting it finished! :0)
ReplyDeleteYour flowers look like dogwood blossoms our provincial flower. Nice design. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteIt is gorgeous Paulette! Your personal touch just makes that quilt sing!
ReplyDeleteIt turned out so beautiful! "Coins" are pretty and I really love the applique. Congratulations on job well done.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely gorgeous - the flowers really make this quilt, Paulette! Love it!
ReplyDeleteWhen you stop 'loving that quilt' you can send it to me to love. :-)
ReplyDeleteNow how on earth could you have left that in the UFO pile for years? It's gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! The fabrics are pretty and the added flowers look like they belong there. Perfect! My UFO busting is going slooooooow... but you are definitely feeding along some inspiration to concentrate and get going!
ReplyDeleteIt's beautiful! I love the design, the colors, the flowers. Another winner!!
ReplyDeleteMost definitely a keeper! Did you get the bobbin thread tension issue settled? Now it's needle?? GRRR Starts to be so frustrating you don't even want to touch the machine!
ReplyDeleteHow a lovely quilt!
ReplyDeleteI love your work!! :))
LOVE it, P. I'm enjoying your stash/UFO projects.
ReplyDeleteIt is beautiful. I love the soft colours and the appliqué!
ReplyDeletePaulette, I love how you added the flowers. They take it from a pretty quilt to a stunning quilt! Well done!
ReplyDeleteIt is beautiful...the appliqued flowers are a lovely finish to the quilt.
ReplyDeleteLovely dogwoods!
ReplyDeleteAnne had some great tips for your quilting. Thread shredding may be caused by a rough spot along the path in your thread guides or in the actual eye of the needle. Some fabric backed very fine sand paper can help you with the thread guides...found at the hardware store. The eye of the needle can be sanded with toothpaste and floss :-) or you just might need a new needle...or to sand the actual machine hook that catches the thread.
When the thread just breaks, it can be that the tension was too tight. Hope this helps. For awhile, it seems like there are endless things to check! but eventually you work out that relationship with your machine :-)
I love it too, beautiful design.
ReplyDeleteDebbie
Bravo and I love your quilt!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful quilt, love the soft colours and the appliqué flowers on it. Congrats on finishing another UFO.
ReplyDeleteI believe I do recognize one or two fabrics! :). I love the addition of the flowers. Blessings, Marlene
ReplyDeleteLovely. It's great to see it finished.
ReplyDeleteI have a picture of this quilt, or one very similar in my ideas and inspiration folder. One day.....
That fraying thread can be such a problem. I never did figure out why that happens. The quilt turned out lovely.
