Yesterday Thelma (aka Sandy) and I were off to yet ANOTHER Deceased Quilter’s Garage Sale! No, we are NOT dropping likes flies here on the West Coast of Canada…it’s the same Deceased Quilter Garage Sale that we have been going to since last October! This must be the sixth or seventh GS (I have lost track?)…and there is still tons of fabric left!!
Apparently the deceased Quilter’s Sewing area was upstairs…(a place her hubby never ventured…as it should be…:)…she managed to fill three rooms of ‘stuff’…$40,000 worth of inventory! Thatsa ma’girl! In all fairness, her hubby said she was a woman of means and had her own money…If I had lots of $$ I would be knocking out walls and adding ‘fabric rooms’ too! Yeehaw!!
But no…I have to live vicariously! This month, backing fabric had been added to the mountain of stuff for sale…
And quilting templates…
And I found a couple of pieces of homespuns…
Anyways, Sandy and I have been using these Garage Sales as our monthly outings…taking our time at the GS and then going out for lunch after (we now have our regular sweet little restaurant in Cook Street Village), then a little more shopping on the way home!! Yup, it’s a lovely way to spend a Saturday!
There are THREE more scheduled Garage Sales left…one at the end of July (which we have decided to skip) and two in August. Dare I say..it’s Louise’s turn to drive…SEW hang on!!
Have a SUNNY Sunday…I hope you get a few minutes of stitching tossed in there somewhere! ~L… (P)
That is what will happen when we go, haha.
ReplyDeleteWe have yard sales around here but I never get to them early or too lazy to stop, like I need more;)
Debbie
Now that's what I call a S-C-O-R-E!!!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous stuff and it all looks brand, spanking new!
Wow! Such pretty fabrics...I am sure that the quilter is looking down from heaven and so happy that you are using her stash!
ReplyDeleteYou might have given me a great excuse to head over to Victoria to see a good friend! Would you mind sharing what weekends the next garage sales are?
ReplyDeleteI am green with envy. Sounds like a lot of fun and a good way to spend a Saturday with your friend.
ReplyDeleteWow - you girls are hitting the jackpot, for sure! I don't think I could stand to skip the next one!
ReplyDeleteScore! Well done once again Paulette. Two members of my guild recently passed away and we held garage sales where the proceeds benefited PAWS and also set up a bursary at a local college for fashion design I think.
ReplyDeleteI assume the prices must be very reasonable. At the end, you should just make an offer for whatever is left.
ReplyDeleteAwesome! Better then shopping in a quilt shop! I'm sure much more economical too!
ReplyDeleteOh Wow! I'll bet she is looking down just laughing at all of you searching thru her quilting stuff and finding treasures.
ReplyDeleteYou two really score each time you go!! Love the fabrics you found!!
ReplyDeleteLucky you!!
Hugs,
Tanya
The mountain of a wonderful treasure!!
ReplyDeleteI love it. :D
I live in a small town in Northwestern ON and only once did we have a Deceased Quilters Sale and it was exciting but crazy!! I got some beautiful fabrics and I am still using some of it after 4 years... Or was it longer??!! Anyway, it was a thrill and I always feel that the woman who passed away would be very pleased with my quilt projects using her fabric!!
ReplyDeleteHow fun for the both of you! It would definitely be on my list of things to do if I lived nearby.:)
ReplyDeleteI have yet to go to but maybe at the end of this month but you have surely chosen well.
ReplyDeleteI bet she would be smiling down on all of you getting her treasured fabric to use in quilts she planned on making! this must be fun in a different way too!
ReplyDeletegreat fabrics !
