Time for a little ‘Christmas Magic’…

Yesterday I received a complimentary copy of ‘Christmas Magic: Decorative Ideas for Winter and Yuletide Patchwork’ by Ingrid Perra!

 P1200310

‘Christmas Magic’ a hard cover book chalk full of ideas for Christmas time…pillows and placemats, tablecloths and blankets…and more, much more!  All the projects are simple, stitched projects perfect for the beginning quilter/sewer!

I really admire the author, as Ingrid Perra turned her hobby into a flourishing and fun business when she established Country Quilts, a patchwork company!  How great is that!

The first part of the book gives a detailed and thorough description of all the tools needed to complete a patchwork project, from rulers to threads to needles.  A great resource for someone who is just starting out!  P1200311

The second part of the book is called ‘Basic Patchwork and Quilting Course’…and it is just that…a complete course for the beginning quilter!  Detailed instructions on working with different blocks…squares, triangles, templates and putting together the pieces to form the blocks, then moving into the quilting part of the process.  Ingrid even tackles appliqué by machine and by hand and of course how to make and put on bias binding.  Again GREAT for the beginner! (Do you see a theme here?)P1200312

All of this before she even gets to the projects!  The projects are wonderful and simple enough for all beginners!  They are clearly written and fully illustrated making it a snap for anyone to follow!

How adorable are these placemats…they would be fast and easy and make the perfect gift for anyone!  P1200314

And check out the Advent House…the shades rolled up to reveal a button…then the child lifts one side of the roof to find the matching button and sack..filled with goodies!!  How fun for a grandma to have on hand for a visiting grandchild!  I really like this one!P1200316

I also loved this sweet tablecloth…fast and easy and what a lovely gift it would make!  P1200317

I don’t want to show you everything…but there is definitely a theme running through this book…that is, that it is geared for the beginning quilter!  But even if you are intermediate or an advanced sewer, you will find something to make your Christmas just a little more special!

Thank you to Christine at Schiffer Publishing for sending me this book!!

  4. Looks very interesting! I just inherited a ton of batting for quilting and don't really know a thing about quilting. Aren't you clever!

  5. I have 'Christmas Magic' in German, given to me as a gift by a german friend last year. The fleece blanket on (my page 38) is a super quick make, and looks great in greens and reds! :)
