I couldn’t end the week without some eye candy…
This quilt was brought in by one of the Heritage Quilters! Would you believe she wasn’t happy with it as the Homespun was so difficult to work with (fraying)… but for me, it was SEW worth the extra work! :o) LOVE IT!! The Quilter…(geeze, sorry I can’t remember your name) is going to supply us with the name of the pattern, hopefully on Monday…so stay tuned!
Don’t you just love the simplicity of this quilt…a little bit of piecing, a little bit of appliqué! My kind of quilt..and it looks warm and cozy too!
Are you a Homespun kinda’ gal? I think Homespun fabrics are like batiks…your either love them or you don’t! What about you? Love ‘em…or leave ‘em? Hmmm…tell you what, you take the batiks and I’ll take the Homespuns and we’ll call it a draw!:o)))
Before I go, I need to send a HUGE THANK YOU to Karen from Sew Many Ways…I won her very generous GIVE AWAY…which was a $25 Gift Certificate to shop at my favourite online store!! I wonder if the FQS sells Homespuns…hmmm?! Thanks again, Karen!
Thanks for stopping in…and happy stitching!
Love it...I have not worked with Homespuns yet...bought a large stack at Quilt Market so I think I am now set to make my "houses" quilt. Thought of you when I was buying them and thinking that you would be so happy at Quilt Market.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing.
I love that quilt too, beautiful design.
ReplyDeleteI probably have designs like that in my books, need to go through them again.
Congratulations on your win!

Hey Paulette!
ReplyDeleteI personally love homespuns! I don't have a problem with them fraying and I think they are easier to do hand applique with. We had a bunch in the shop but they didn't sell. We still have them and I've thought about re-listing them but I hate to do that if they aren't going to sell. I'm just puzzled by that. They are greens and beige and burnt orange and gold...all earth tones. It's a mystery. Thanks for sharing all of the beautiful quilts! Your blog is so inspirational!
Cheery wave from Bev
Paulette you need to buy lottery tickets as your so lucky in winning on the blog, enjoy the loot you pick out (show us). Hope you get that pattern name, love it. I have a tote full of homespuns and no one batik in my stash.
ReplyDeleteI am a homespun girl too. Love the old fashioned look of them.
ReplyDeleteCongrat's on your win.
I love the look of homespuns. My friend is trying to add them to her stash and she's never sure if the plaid is a homespun or not. I told her they are just like batiks in the fact that the front and back are the same since they are woven and not printed. I'm using mine to make Cheryl Wall's Welcome Home quilt. Homespuns make such great houses!
ReplyDeleteI adore homespuns, buy them every chance I get.:) Great pattern!
ReplyDeleteI agree with you about the homespuns. I enjoy working with them.
ReplyDeletehOW COULD ANY NOT LOVE THAT QUILT? iT'S LOVELY.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful quilt! I will take homespun over a batik any day. The trick for me is to use lots of spray starch to stop that pesky fraying.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing.
I lOvE sewing with homespuns too, and I lOvE the pattern on that quilt, nice applique too...M
ReplyDeleteCongrats on winning Karen's giveaway. I just love Sew Many Ways! I was so happy for you when I read Karen's post announcing you won.
ReplyDeleteLove the quilt. I haven't worked with homespuns yet...the fraying does scare me a bit.
This is my kind of quilt! I've worked with homespuns a lot! They take a little getting used to, mainly in that they are thicker than most cottons. But I love the look :). Great job to your friend.
