Last week I received an email from Blog Reader, Pat. She had read on my blog that the Heritage Quilters were hosting the annual "Hands Across the Water". Every year the Duncan quilters get together with the Gulf Island quilters...Saturna, Pender, Galiano and Main Island quilters for quilting fun!
I love this event as there is always lots of Quilting Show and Tell, a few vendors, sometimes mini workshops or a guest speaker and of course, a wonderful luncheon...all pertaining to QUILTING...well maybe not the food... but we do have to keep up our energy! :o)) There are also lots of Raffle Baskets and door prizes! So... Pat, who lives in Duncan, was wondering if Heritage Guild could uses a few pincushions for door prizes or raffles? Of course, we would love to add a few of her pincushions! We arranged that I would pop over to her house just before heading to Heritage on Monday morning!
I should have known that Pat would be crafty....look at what was beside her doorbell! This charming wee driftwood fairy home was crafted by Pat! Simply adorable!
Yup...two big baskets FULL of pincushions! I have never seen so many...and talk about variety!
Let me show you a few....
Pat even dabbles in WOOL!!
There were scissor keepers...with scissors!
Bags...and more bags...
Love this chicken pincushion!
And a mini tuffet pincushion....which is NOT easy to make!
More wool...ready for some pins!
Even thread catchers!
The sweetest bird...
Stitcheries and flowers!
Pincushions filled with walnut shells to keep those pins sharp!
This needle organizer took my breath away! Made from the softest wool and beautifully embroidered...and just look inside!
Complete with stork scissors and all these wee pockets! WOW! Pat's workmanship is INCREDIBLE!!
I spotted me some Primitive Gathering pincushions and the Tree Farm pincushion from a Christmas Designer Blog Hop!! Yup...she follows blogs!! :o))
SEW CUTE!!
Little ABC pocket purse! Sweet!
My camera did not do these pincushions justice...a pop open Victorian style sewing pouch and a decorated wooden spoon with a pincushion in the ladle! CUTE!
How SWEET....
And look what was inside!!
And see this bag...beautifully embroidered and LOOK what it holds...
An arm rest pincushions....
...AND everything that you would need for any stitching project!! WOW!!
I think Pat called this a 'Diddy' Bag...all I know is that it was adorable...and there were several!
I LOVE this cute bag...it is made of wool with the sweetest needle felted rabbit (using roving)...and inside is a hot water bottle!! TOO CUTE!
Pat is also into Scrapbooking and donated this gorgeous box....Can you see the scissors, spools and tape measure gracing the outside of the box...?
And inside...all these wonderful sewing goodies! WOW!! Incredible!
Pat clearly has a BIG heart, with an even bigger love for crafting and quilting! She says it keeps her young and busy...and she is all that!! She also said that it warms her heart to be able to give back to her community! Well these pincushions will help to raise money for one of her favourite causes...Somenos House! (Somenos House is top of the list for Heritage Charities too..it provides a safe. home-like harbour for abused children and mothers to go when needed.) Pat makes a quilt every week for this charity! Yup...she is INCREDIBLE!
SEW...Heritage sends you a huge THANKS YOU, Pat! Personally it was wonderful to meet you and see all of your wonderful creations...and your sewing room!! I KNOW that our paths will cross again...in the way of the quilter! Wishing you all the best and happy quilting!
Here on our Island we have a glorious sunny day awaiting us...I wish I could say that my sewing room is calling my name...(which it is...)...it's just that those darn weeds are drowning out their calls!! DARN! That fabric needs to SPEAK UP!!
Have a wicked Wednesday and Happy Stitching!~P
What a generous donation and lovely heart Pat has! I'd be hard pressed to pick out a favourite item. Wish I could see them in person and choose a few.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful thing to do, to help you out. I do make a lot of things to keep my hands busy so always nice to be able to donate some to help others, usually I do a basket for our church and animal shelter.
