Prepping...

You can NEVER have too much handwork...in fact, the other night I was down to my last prepped block and I got nervous!  WHAT?  No handwork? I NEED hand-work!!  Seriously, I am out like a light if I'm not stitching while watching TV!  I get bored with just TV...I need to be DOING!  I think it's a 'Quilters' Thing'...am I right?!

I am involved in FOUR BOMs....and need to wait for more blocks to be released from the designers before I can prep more.  Plus, I never just prep one block at a time...I figure if I'm going to make a mess, let's make it big and prep a whole bunch!

SEW...while I waited...I flipped through old Quiltmania magazines...and came across this issue!  Tons of little pink tags sticking out...and one of those tags flagged a project has been on My Bucket List forever...or since Quiltmania released the #83 issue!  I say let's get it prepped and ready...and waiting in the wings!

You can see the pattern sheet underneath the magazine...the smallest, sweetest baskets EVER! (You can also see the name of this quilt on the project sheet below.)

The wool is prepped...and with a dog around, those pieces got quickly stored (briefly) in numbered envelopes.  I had visions of one swipe of her tail and bits of wool confetti flying...!!

Then one envelope at a time, I prepped the blocks.  (Hey...I wonder where that white hair came from?;o)

Looks kind of plain, doesn't it?  You can see from the project sheet, that it's the embroidery work that will give this wee block pizzazz!

And one more block...

Again...look at how the embroidery work will add tons of interest to this block...

And here is the whole quilt, ready for stitching.  Each piece of wool has been backed with Heat N Bond Lite and adhered to the Diamond Textile 6 1/2" squares ready for stitching!

No more worries about running out of hand-work in the evening and it also gives me work to take to Heritage on Monday mornings!  Yeehaw!

I'm all ready for a new British Series...any suggestions?   I am SEW gobsmacked over British telly....watched with a bit wee bit o'stitchin'- of course!

Thanks for popping in!!  Have a SUNNY Sunday and Happy Stitching!~P

  7. Totally know what you're talking about Paulette - I always have a few quilts on the go that I am hand stitching. Panic sets in if I think I don't have enough! That basket quilt is absolutely precious.

  13. I know what you mean about handwork while watching TV. If I'm not doing something like stitching or knitting, I feel guilty for just watching TV. This sweet quilt is going to be spectacular, and so much fun when you take it to Heritage and everyone gets a look at it.

  14. Cute little blocks, but too small for me. Little baskets by Linen Closet was small enough. I was surprise to hear you ran out of handwork---aren't you doing the Farmhouse Threads BOW----you couldn't be done with those even though you are a speed demon.

  20. I'm with you, if I'm going to prep some handwork, I prep a lot. One big mess = lots of blocks to work on. Those wee baskets are adorable and now like many others I've got to check my back issues!

  21. Love the wee baskets...we just experimented with a new British series this evening, pretty gritty, called Spotless. Our favourite valet from Downton is in it but he isn't Mr. Bates as we knew and loved him. Not sure if I will be able to continue.
