This and THAT!

On Friday our dog, Rylie was attack by a Pitbull while we were getting out of  the car at one of our local parks, Mill Bay Nature Park.  It was swift, it was vicious, it was unprovoked... we did not see it coming!  The owners of the dogs...(yes, there were two dogs...a pitbull and a boston terrier cross)....were no where to be seen, as they let their 'pets' run wild!  It was a total frenzy of dogs...huge muscular dogs...with our poor little Rylie in the middle!  My husband is the one who finally got Rylie back...by kicking and hitting the pitbull, getting a bloody hand in the process.  I was a hysterical, shaking mess!  The good news is Rylie will heal...stitches to her belly and drains in her neck, so we celebrate that!  And my hero didn't need stitches but had to have a tetanus shot. (Seriously if hubby hadn't fought so hard, little Rylie would not be here today!) The bad news is these dogs are still out there...the owners were jerks.  They didn't care that Rylie was hurt, they didn't WANT to know if Rylie was hurt.  They got into their van and drove off...not even a 'sorry...'  Yes we will be filing reports to the police and to the SPCA come Monday morning.  Dogs like these should not be allowed to run 'free'!

There I have had my morning rant:o}...SEW...let's talk quilting!  Thanks goodness for wonderful quilting friends...because without them I would have nothing to talk about!  OK...I'm sure I could find something... but it wouldn't be nearly as good as THIS!

Glynis finished her "Harvest Moon" by Heart to Hand...and like everything Glynis does, it is exquisite!!

It is so vibrant and rich looking...and look at those stitches!  SWOON!  Go ahead and enlarge the picture by clicking on it!

You can tell that Glynis had a workshop from the great Sue Spargo!  Absolutely gorgeous stitching!

Glynis finished this one in time to hang it for at least a month before it's time to break out all of those Christmas quilts!  I have a closet full of UFOs while Glynis has a closet full of finished quilts and for every season!  Lucky us!!  Serious, Glynis needs her own blog...but I'm so glad she doesn't! I love her blog fodder...and I KNOW you do too!  Thanks so much Glynis for sharing...:o)))

Have a Sunny Sunday!  I hope you get time for some slow Sunday stitching and in between stitches...please take the time to hug a loved one today whether it's your fur-baby or hero! You just don't know what's around that corner! Big hug to YOU!~P

  1. I'm glad you'll be filing a report. You probably need to make sure the dog(s) who drew blood on your husband has had a rabies shot. I'm so sorry this happened but glad everyone, including Rylie, is okay.

  2. Sending prayers for Rylie"s recovery. Keep an eye on The Hero's hand. Did he get antibiotics? We've had similar things happen with loose dogs coming attacking our livestock and it is so stressful & heartbreaking. My heart goes out to you.

  3. Those dogs should be put in quarantine--that is so horrible. I'm glad Rylie will be alright!

  4. Sorry about Rylie. Sad to say, but maybe you should carry pepper spray with you on your walks (it's in my purse at all times). Glad you are filing a report. Hope they get fined. Glynis's quilt is stunning. She did a great job.

  5. Oh Glyni's fall havest is beautiful! I get so upset about dog onwers you descibed....every now and then I run into a wild, loose dog while out on a walk....and it's so upsetting!!! I have to pick Jaskson and be ready to kick!!

  6. So sorry about your little Rylie. I don't know why there are so many dog owners who think leash laws apply to everyone but them. We've had problems with dogs off leash in our park too and the there is a sign at every entrance warning that no dog should be off leash ever. Irresponsible owners spoil it for us all! I hope Rylie and your husband recover quickly.

  7. Paulette, so sorry to hear of that terrible misadventure, hopefully someone managed to get a license plate number or a photo of the van to help you out. The good news is with time both victim and hero will heal along with your frayed nerves.

Glynis did a lovely job on her quilt, she is fortunate to have a friend like you to show off her work. Enjoy your Sunday stitching.

  8. So very sorry this happened to you! How awful! Why on earth are you waiting until Monday to file your reports? Glynis' quilt is beautiful. Her work is always beautiful!

  9. So glad that your baby and your hubs are going to be okay. It's so sad. The dogs are not to blame and bad owners are seldom held accountable. I don't think I'd wait until Monday to file a report. I watch little Blossom like a hawk. She only weighs 9 pounds! Love the quilt. Prayers for quick healing!

  10. What a horrible thing to happen to Rylie. Thank goodness your husband was along to break up the fight. Yes indeed, file a complaint. I hope the owners can be discovered and fined.
Glynnis, lovely work~ thank you for sharing. Blessings.....

  11. Oh what a dreadful thing to happen to poor Rylie. I am so glad your hero hubby got him free. Those people really need reporting, they obviously do not know how to take care of their dogs or do not care.... Love the quilts.

  12. Oh P what a terrible thing to happen, poor Rylie and just awful for your hubby, my gawd he could of lost a hand. Sending healing vibes to both and hoping that someone is made to be accountable for this. Glynnis's work is exquisite as usual.

  13. Poor Rylie. Glad she will be ok. Irresponsible dog owners are the worst! What a horrendous thing to experience. I hope they catch them and that it doesn't happen to some one else.

  14. How awful. Thankful Rick best them off and yes, the owners need to be held accountable. LOVE the wall hanging. I have that in a bag, ready to prep.

  15. Oh Paulette! I'm so sorry. I'm so glad your husband was with you! That is terrible and I'm glad you are filing a report and I hope they get the book thrown at them. They shouldn't have dogs. Keep us posted!

  16. Oh, what a terribly frightening experience for everyone! I'm glad that Rylie is okay and I agree that dogs like that should not be free!

  17. That is TERRIBLE!!! I hear about that quite frequently. Hope you file a lawsuit against those people. They need to be hit where it hurts and pay for Rylie's medical care and your DH's tetanus shot and more! People like that are....oh I can't say bad words here.

  18. So glad your dog is going to be OK, but sorry you all had to suffer such a shocking event. I hope the culprits are dealt with appropriately.

  19. Oh, Paulette. So sorry about poor Rylie. Hope he is feeling better soon. An attack such as this is what gives pit bulls such a bad reputation. There are certainly pit bulls that are sweet and loving, but this is a breed that is known for fighting. The owners need to be held responsible.
And on a more pleasant note, Glynis has done it again. What a sweet wall hanging. I bet she'll be ready for Christmas before December 1st.

  20. Glad that Rylie will be okay. The owners of the other dogs need to have the dogs taken away. Love reading your blog. Glynis puts me to shame with all her beautiful work.

  21. I'm sorry to hear about Rylie! But, once you report it, I am pretty sure there will be consequences for both the owners and the dogs. Here in Ontario the owners would be held liable for the vet bill, AND face charges as well.

Thanks again to Glynis for some nice eye candy! I love those orange plaids! Was the project a kit, or did the wool come from somewhere else? Plaid pumpkins = win/win!

  22. That is just awful! But THANK GOODNESS for your hubby saving Rylie. And shame on the owners of those dogs - what is wrong with them!? What a stressful way to start off a morning. I agree that the owners should have to pay for the vet bill, your husband's shot and face fines!!! Some people really should never be pet owners.
Two thumbs up for Glynis' quilt. Lovely, gorgeous colors!!!

  23. I am so,so sorry to hear about Rylie. Such a frightening experience! So glad your husband and Rylie will both be okay. Yes, they should help with the vet bill, especially if dogs were suppose to be on leashes. Glynis's Harvest Moon is gorgeous! Such beautiful pumpkins.

  26. in Australia were i live they have banned the breading of pit bulls and if they attack in any way they are put down... but only after a small child was killed, in her house by a local person dog wandering in the open front door, the owner said it was not there fault dew to the door being open, make sense of that....

  27. Oh oh my goodness that is terrible! So glad your pup is ok. I think I would go back to that park and wait to see if those awful dogs and owners return and get the lid plate number to report them. Just awful that people have such mean aggressive dogs!

  28. Poor Rylie it must have been so frightening for him, do hope he is soon better and able to go out once again Here in the UK they are very strict re pit bull`s, you have to have a license and keep them muzzled and on a lead at all times when out and if you do not they are confiscated if found to be dangerous are put to sleep.
    Your quilt s looking beautiful

  29. OMG!!! Poor Rylie and poor you guys--I won't get started on my anti pit bull rant! Glad Rylie will be OK--hugs to you all!

  30. So sorry to hear about the attack on your little dog, I live in fear of this happening to mine. I hope that he and your husband will both be well and heal quickly. There should be some consequences to the other owners and dogs and hope there will be.

  31. I do hope Rylie gets better soon. Our dear Airedale, Kelly, was attacked by two Labradors when she and they were on their leads. The woman had no control over them and was walking both of them and they pulled her off her feet and just attacked Kelly and she was not doing anything just standing there! Fortunately she was not badly injured just some bruising but it is so upsetting. My DH broke that fight up but I don't know what I would have done if he had not been there! I hope you get some resolution with this. Hugs, Susie x

  32. Our dog was attached a few years ago by a black lab as we were leaving an off leash park. such a terrifying experience. Stitches, surgery and drains and so much pain later, but he made a full recovery. Your little one will too ❤️ Thank goodness your husband was able to help. We no longer go to dog parks, which is a shame but safer. These quilts are beautiful!

  33. My heart goes out to you. What a terrible, disgusting, & frightening experience. Time to carry a large container of Bear Spray, not those tiny cans of mace. I hope something is done about those irresponsible dog owners. On a positive note: Love Heart to Hand designs! Harvest Moon is gorgeous!

  38. Oh that is awful. So glad your dog will be fine and your husband wasn't hurt worse than he was. We had a pitbull one yard over for several years. One day it got into our backyard and tried to get to my kids through the sliding glass door! I am just terrified of those dogs!

  39. Oh my gosh! I feel so bad for you all. I hope they catch them.

Love the Harvest Moon! I am in the process right now of stitching on mine :o)

  40. It drives me crazy that some dog owners can be so irresponsible. I venture to guess that if their child was mauled by the dog of an irresponsible owner that they would be singing a different tune. I hope they get slapped with huge fines. It would be great if judges could also order them to take training in dog management/training and responsible pet ownership. So glad that everyone is going to be okay but I can imagine it must have been a terrifying experience.
