The Elves Have Been Busy…

…over at my friend, Claire’s house!  If you want to see some woolie goodness, then man, are you at the right house!!

Claire’s Christmas quilts and wool pennies grace every nook and cranny…let me give you a small sampling…

Love this ‘snowflake wreath’ quilt…

P1210006

…but wait it’s an optical illusion…it’s not a snowflake…it’s really Christmas trees in a circle!  Love it…and it’s all hand appliquéd…beautifully stitched!

P1210005

And a wonderful Thimbleberries Runner graces the back of her couch…

P1200989

BUT it was this GORGEOUS mitten quilt that caught my eye!!  I LOVED it!  Made from the coziest flannel…the kind that makes you want to crawl underneath with a good book…And it had the sweetest woolen mittens stitched on!  (Lights went ON…this quilt is on the cover of “A Thimbleberries Housewarming” …only the cover quilt is blue and the mittens have hearts on them)…This quilt is SEW much nicer and not as cutsey (if you know what I mean)!

P1200990

Loved her Frosty sitting on one of her end tables…

P1200991

I HAD to show you her flying reindeer displayed on her piano…oops I cut off Santa…wonderful, isn’t it!P1200992

Claire was a Cross Stitcher before she found ‘wool’!  (sounds almost religious…doesn’t it?!)

You can tell where Claire’s heart was in those day…ABC’s,

P1200995 …The Three Pigs, and of course the Little Red School House complete with a row of children in front!  Yup…smack dab in the middle of her Kindergarten classroom!  Lovely keepsakes of her teaching years!

P1200996

This little wall hanging is what swayed me to the dark side (WOOL!)…I remember Claire bringing this for Show and Tell at Cloth Castle’s Club (about 10 or so years ago).  Boy, did I stare at this all night…and asked her a million questions!!  LOVED IT!! These pictures do NOT do it justice!

P1200997

Have I made it?…well…not YET…but someday…SOON!

P1200998

Adorable, isn’t it!

P1200999

All together now… “AHHhhhhhhh!!”  This wee quilt is adorable too…love the stick holder!

P1210002

This wee St. Nick penny is stunning!!  Looks PERFECT on her coffee table!

P1210003 Yup…Claire is a quilter through and through…right down to her light switch!!  ;o)

P1210001

Hope this has inspired you to get out your Christmas quilts…after all, it is DECEMBER FIRST!!  YIKES!!  Only 24 more days until Christmas!!  The countdown is on!  I better stitch a little faster…

Have a SUPER Saturday and Happy Quilting!~P

  8. I have one of those Thimbleberry runners that I made a long time ago. I need to dig it out for holiday display. Claire and I have something in common!

  9. Oh those flying reindeer... and the snowman penny rug... and the snowman mini quilt! They are wonderful! It's funny you should mention the mitten quilt as I often forget that patterns can be used as a "basis" for your own design. I enjoy it when folks take patterns and then customize it to their own personality and home.
